Ultimately, I don’t see the series with the Marlins as very important, but, naturally, I’ll be crushed were we to be swept or lose the series. Obviously, the Marlins are looking to exact some revenge.

While going into the series with confidence and attitude is a must, I hope the Mets take absolutely nothing for granted and play each game down there like there’s no tomorrow.

You have to want to win their series more than you want anything else for those three days in FL.

One game at a time!

Wonder how much the new park with it’s former Citi Field-type dimensions is affecting the hitters down there along with the humidity that was always present and the dome when it is open and closed?

This weekend indeed will be an important, early season test to see how our guys measure up this year against the projected better teams. To be honest, we deserve all the acollades for the sweep and five game winning streak for even though our hitters were kept at bay by Halladay and Lee, our starters kept the games close and allowed us to stomp upon what is now a middle of the road bullpen. So as long as we stay in the game like we did in the “City Of Brotherly Love” (yeah, just as much as we are all one big, happy family in MMO LOL) and find ourselves trailing come the late innings, imagine what our “Two Out Thunder” (patent pending, if anyone is thinking of stealing my slogan LOL) might do against a pen nearer the bottom in the rankings like Miami!

But, the Mets made the Phils bullpen pay for their mistakes (predicted it), and you KNOW Phillies fans are not happy right now.

Yes, they have no Utley or Howard but their starters (Halladay and Lee) are getting old fast it seems, and they simply do not have the bullpen to cover for them. I’m not saying they are done or anything like that. I’m just saying, they may actually need a bullpen this year and they simply do not have one outside of Papelbon

Bobby O. pointed out something that most of us didn’t even realize – that the sound of the ball coming off the bat is not only important for fielders but that it is just as important for base runners as well. On the double that followed, Turner went back to second to tag up instead of going half-way toward third which would then have enabled him to easily score. Many thought he didn’t read the ball correctly but Justin mentioned that he couldn’t get a good handle of the sound of the ball when it came off the bat. Just as fielders need this sound to know how to immediately begin their break, so to with base runners so they know when to run – or not to run so they went get doubled-up.

The Mets go to 5 games above .500. According to Adam Rubin the last time that happened was 7/19/10 (49-44).

Positives tonight for me is the entire team. It took a team effort to win let alone sweep.
