The article listed in the post just mentions that teams are asking about Parnell in passing. The piece itself is about Rivera’s injury and goes off about relief pitching is always a concern around the league.

Parnell, being young and productive, is a name I’m sure comes up. That doesn’t mean anyone is actually serious about trading him or for him.

What the Mets need right now is more guys like Bobby Heat, not fewer.

I’m sure lots of teams are asking about a lot of guys, especially young pitchers. This may just be a case of GMs trying to figure out what the market will look like when playoff races really take shape.

The Red Sox have that rookie shortstop in AAA Jose Iglesias. I would trade Bobby P. for that kid. I think Henry Mejda will ultimately become the set-up guy anyway.The Sox are getting desperate and the shortstop they have playing now Mike “Whatshisname” is hitting and play passable defensively. Perhaps they would give up Iglesias for Parnell???
In 2013 we could have an infield of:
1b Davis
2b Havens
ss Iglessias
3b Wright
utility Tejada

The fact other teams are looking to trade for him should be the indicator to keep him. He isn’t going anywhere any time soon.

Don’t see how the Met seriously accept offers for Parnell at this point. He is young, blossoming and fits into our future plans. The fact that other clubs are sending out feelers tends to confirm he has caught the eye of many.

I disagree. Parnell cant pitch in pressure situations. We can get anyone to pitch solid in the 6th and 7th, so if we could parlay Parnell into something good why not?

No, I wouldn’t favor trading him as I think he is one solid man in the BP who has serious closer potential. I think the rule is that unless you have a surfeit of pitching talent you don’t give up good pitching talent.
