SNY Fixes The Buggy Mets Score Bug
SNY and the Mets have finally fixed that annoying score bug that has led to so much confusion regarding the score during Mets telecasts.
I don’t know if this bothered you as much as it did me, but on many occasions I found myself getting faked out with the score because my mind couldn’t get past the fact that the number in the middle was the inning.
Here is the the one they started the 2012 season with, courtesy of Amazin Avenue.
And here is the new updated one which was rolled out tonight.
A thousand times better if you ask me.
Hat tip to the MMO Shoutbox peeps!

I can’t say, as a human smarter than the average bear, that I’ve ever had a problem with that.
Actually…I now find myself thinking the Mets’ score is the inning…
Rule,
LMAO – that was a good one!
So many I know were complaining about that graphic, including some sports talk hosts on FAN. The very first time I saw it I misread the score and it often still occurred when first glancing it when turning the game on. Wonder if the graphic artist and his or her director who approved it got chewed out for such amateurish a design.
Though I know it’s the same production crew, I’m just hoping this isn’t just a PIX thing and we will find a return to the confusion.
This is a definite improvement. I kept mistaking the inning for the home team’s score.
It had to be a lot of people for them to finally fix it. Always had to take a few looks. My wife hated it.
Its fine but why not make the two strike lights the same color as the three ball light. The red light is too weak to see on the regular TVs. It may be alright on large HD Tvs. Since we know you need 3 for balls & 2 for strikes, why not?
I also confused the inning and the score. I think fox did it the same way but the color of the inning was yellow while the score was white and that was enough to make it clear.
I thought I was the only one who read it wrong!
LOL, I had the same problem, the number in the middle faked me out more often than not. I like the fix.
That score bug annoyed the crap out of me. Now I know why last night’s game was so much more enjoyable, it wasnt just Gee it was the score bug!
I didn’t have a problem with it, but I’ve heard tons of complaints this year about that and the dots for balls/strikes.
I give them credit for fixing/changing it…the newer version is better anyways.
It seems like SNY has changed that graphic a dozen time over their short life…remember when the had the narrow bar across the top?
Now if someone can get screen shots of every graphic they’ve used, that would be impressive.
I had been looking all over the place for somewhere to complain about this, and, no I had not heard about it on the FAN or anywhere else really. It was particularly distracting during the recent Rangers’ run when I would just switch over to SNY for a second to catch the score. Thought it was just one of those things that would make me seem, shall we say, “endearingly eccentric.” Then today (5/26), I noticed on Channel 11 that it looked different, and wondered if it was Channel 11. But then I found you guys.
I would note that the graphics you have above don’t quite capture the confusion, because it is a Met/Yankee game from a prior year, not, obviously, this year. And the inning is black on white in the older graphic, which misses the confusion of this year when the graphic was white on black, just like the score. And the number was the same size. It really had not looked different than 2 SD 3 NY 4.
Thanks for caring about the little things that make life as a fan better or worse. Now can I get a forum on how Doc Emrick has become really annoying?
FINALLY!! everyone i know hated that
