NL East Report: Braves Activate Hudson, Strasburg Named Pitcher of the Month
The NL East Report focuses on the other teams in the division. This report tells the transactions, injuries, and news from the other teams from this past week. It also shows their record so far against the New York Mets this season, as well as the NL East Standings.
News And Transactions
Atlanta Braves: The Atlanta Braves activated Tim Hudson from the disabled list and sent down Cory Gearrin.
Miami Marlins: The Miami Marlins optioned Chris Coghlan and Mike Dunn to Triple-A and called up Dan Jennings and Bryan Petersen.
Philadelphia Phillies: The Phillies saw Roy Halladay leave the team temporarily due to a family matter. He is expected to be back on May 4. The Phillies also placed David Herndon on the disabled list and called up Brian Sanches on Tuesday. It was announced that Cliff Lee will not return from the disabled list on Friday, May 4, when he is eligible, and will likely return next week. The Phillies placed Jim Thome on the disabled list, and called up Erik Kratz.
Washington Nationals: This week it was announced that Stephen Strasburg won the National League Pitcher of the Month award. On Sunday, April 29, the Nationals placed Mark DeRosa on the disabled list and called up Tyler Moore.

Injury Report
Atlanta Braves: Robert Fish (left elbow tendinitis) was put on the disabled list on April 2, retroactive to March 26. It is still unsure when he’ll return. Peter Moylan (recovering from right shoulder surgery last season) is currently rehabbing, and is expected to return sometime in May or June. Arodys Vizcaino (elbow reconstruction surgery) had Tommy John Surgery on March 20, and will be out the remainder of the season.
Miami Marlins: Jose Ceda (ligament tear in right elbow) had Tommy John Surgery on April 12, and will be out the remainder of the season.
New York Mets: Jason Bay (rib fracture) is currently on the disabled list, as of April 24. Ronny Cedeno (left intercostal strain) is currently on the disabled list, as of April 23, retroactive to April 21. As of May 1, he is taking swings and fielding grounders. Mike Pelfrey (partial tear of ulnar collateral ligament) is currently on the disabled list, as of April 24, and had Tommy John Surgery on it to end his season. Chris Young (torn right anterior capsule) will return middle to late May at the earliest. He threw a 75-pitch simulated game on May 1. Pedro Beato (right shoulder stiffness) suffered the injury in late March and currently is on the disabled list. There is no timetable for his return. D.J. Carrasco (right ankle strain) suffered the injury late in Spring Training. He pitched for Class-A on April 30 and May 1, and is expected to return this month.
Philadelphia Phillies: Justin De Fratas (sprained right elbow) suffered a set back while trying to return from his injury and will be out until at least June. David Herndon (right elbow inflammation) was placed on the disabled list on May 1, retroactive to April 30. Ryan Howard (recovering from Achilles surgery) is expected to return in late May or early June, barring a set back. Cliff Lee (left oblique strain) had a bullpen session on May 2 and is expected to be back next week. Jim Thome (strained lower back) was placed on the disabled list on May 2, retroactive to April 29. Chase Utley (left knee) has been undergoing physical therapy and this week started doing fielding drills and batting practice with the Phillies. There is still no timetable for his return. Michael Martinez (right foot fracture) had the walking boot taken off his foot on April 30, and is expected to return in late May or early June. Michael Stutes (mild rotator cuff strain) was placed on the disabled list on April 25.
Washington Nationals: Mark DeRosa (left oblique strain) was placed on the disabled list on April 29, retroactive to April 28. Cole Kimball (recovering from right shoulder surgery) had surgery in July of 2011, and won’t return until July at the earliest. Brad Lidge (abdominal wall strain) had surgery on May 1 to repair a hernia and there is no timetable for his return. Ryan Zimmerman (right shoulder inflammation) is going to hit off a tee on May 4, and is expected to return next week, as early as May 8. Drew Storen (bone chips in right elbow) is currently doing flexibility work after having surgery on April 11 to remove the bone chips. He hopes to return before the All-Star break. Chien-Ming Wang (strained left hamstring) made a Double-A start on May 3 and is expected back sometime this month. Mike Morse (right lat strain) hopes to start a throwing program next week and to return early June. Christopher Marrero (torn next hamstring) torn the hamstring during winter league. There is currently no timetable for his return.

I find it funny that the Mets have the wild card with one game over .500. We are going to have some watered down post seasons with this second wild card.
whats worse is if the DBacks sweep us this series our season could be over based on the parameters set last season by some for what it takes to give up on a season!
Even WITH that extra Wildcard!
Dang, you mean it would be the end of July already and our best players would either be hurt or just coming back from injury and playing poorly? That’s one long as$ series.
Pelfrey is hurt is he not?
Bay is hurt too…
By this time next week we could be 7.5 games out with 4 or 5 teams ahead of us in the race for the wildcard!
Something that was deemed too hard to overcome because all of the teams ahead of us!
Your definition of what out of it means not mine remember!
I am still really surprised no pitching moves have been made by the Mets yet.
