16-6 record, 3.52 ERA, 204 IP, 200Ks and only 161 hits allowed. This is when it was more about baseball and just trying to win instead of today when it’s more about who has the best looking statistics and wins aren’t important.

He would be the ace of this current pitching staff even with Dickey around.

I can still hear those Mets games of years past and phrases like “that rising fastball” to describe Doc & El Sid’s fastball. Does anyone still use that phrase? I wonder.
