It’s The DL For Ruben Tejada, Mets Add Valdespin To Roster
The Mets have put Ruben Tejada on the disabled list with a right quad strain and infielder Jordany Vladespin has been added to the 25-man roster and is available for tonight’s game.
The NY Post reported yesterday that a Mets source told him Ruben Tejada’s MRI results were not good and that a DL stint was very likely.
We’ll have more in a short while when Terry Collins will address reporters at CBP.
Original Post 3:55 PM
Ruben Tejada left today’s game after straining his right quad diving into first base on an infield hit. Tejada also suffered a couple of bruises to his face and eye which was swollen shut according to Terry Collins.
The injury occurred as Tejada tripped while running to first base to beat out a bunt. He landed face first and remained motionless on the ground until the Mets training staff ran out and helped him up. He was taken out of the game and replaced by Justin Turner at shortstop.
Tejada is en route to the Hospital for Special Surgery for an MRI.
Collins said Ronny Cedeno will not be back for another five days and that the team may have to make a roster move if Tejada were to miss any time.
As soon as we hear more, we’ll let you know how significant the injury is and how much time he will miss. Keep your fingers crossed.
The Mets won by the way 3-1.

Gotta love being a Met fan. Does this stuff happen to other teams too?
And talk about the last person they can afford to lose. Will be real interesting to see who becomes the new starting SS.
this is assuming, of course, that it is not a “knock the wind out of him” deal, and he is hitting the DL.
This is unbelievable, the kid was doing so good. I think we really are snake bit.
From what Collins just said this sounds pretty serious. Quad strain, eye injury, potential concussion, yikes! Get back soon Ruben.
put that together and you could quite possibly be looking at the year. Certainly hope not of course.
Wish Ruben a speedy recovery. He’s been so solid defensively & quietly very effective at the plate… “Mr. Doubles” He’s a really good ballplayer without the drama-queen flash.
We’re not snake-bit. These type of injuries will occur during the course of a season, and one hopes they’re not too bad.
Intrigued by the options – Turner & Valdespin, primarily. Can make our line-up a little more potent, notwithstanding Tejada’s consistent production at the plate. Question is to what extent will our team defense be compromised. We’re about to find out.
If Tejada’s going to miss any time Omar Quintanilla will get the call from Buffalo, and you know what? He’s been doing a great job there and would do well for the Mets too.
Petey, what about Valdespin? Isn’t he en route to Philly?
he is. so figure he will be here through at least Friday. But, he may be going back when Cedeno gets back.
might also depend on the final diagnosis, and how long tejada will be out (whether it is temporary, or if they need a more permanent solution)
Yea I agree stick. Valdespin is already reported to be on the Taxi Squad to Philly. So if Tejada indeed goes to the dl they will most likely activate Spin to take his place and once Cedeno is ready to join the club I would expect him to be added as well. Though Spin’s play at SS might have an impact on if he goes back down or not when Cedeno is ready to come back.
The only source so far that Tejada’s MRI are not good is from Puma so I am not going to read much into it until I hear multiple sources confirming the same or the Mets make a formal announcement.
Hmmm I bet those 130 games are starting to look good to a few of you right now!
Here is hoping tejada gets back quick!
Wow.
With each day the ignorance, arrogance and classless comments from some just get more extreme.
The difference between some of us is that some are using this moment to be happy and prove a point about Reyes.
Others are Mets fans and are down about our SS being injured while others are worried about a SS on another team
That was my problem with the comment. At a time that all Mets fans SHOULD be concerned with the health of our young starting SS, Metsie finds it as a time to stick it to all of us on some personal agenda of his own.
The only thing I was STICKING it to some people about was the fact that Injuries happen every year! You can’t predict them, You can’t AVOID them by hiring only kids under the age of 26, Being young you have just as much chance at being hurt as any old guy does!
And when it happens they will miss games!
The difference between some of us is that some are using this moment to be happy and prove a point about Reyes”
you know my feeling about wha you are, but i will ask you this.. Who is happy to see this kid get hurt? seriously, you need to get a grip..
I am not sure Metsie is happy that Ruben is hurt but it certainly played right into his agenda.
trs. thing is, if you’re gonna get on metsie, you need to get on that guy up above for taking shots at another SS from another team.. I don’t get it, wasn’t I the one who were gonna be talking about reyes and the marlins all year long?? Why the hate for the guy? can we move on already??
“taking shots at another SS from another team.”
Since when is taking shots at a SS from another team as bad or worse than taking shots at our own to move on with your agenda?
If it was taking shots at Chipper would you mind?
ha! I cannot win! I say Heyward and Kimbrel are good, I say Freeman is alot like Ike and I’m labeled a Braves fan. I get down on a SS who plays for Miami, in support of a Mets SS… apparently that’s no good either.
Well consider the fact that the shots he took was when he was still WITH our team for one!
Jessup’s knocking of Reyes started even before the 2011 Season started!
And he WAS a met in 2011!
Gloated just as much when Reyes went down last year and did an I told you so!
So if I’m Evil for doing it back to Jessup I’m just fighting fire with his own childish tactics!
Nothing better than fighting fire with fire. LOL. I have seen that excuse more here than anywhere else. Well he acted like an idiot so I can too… LOL.
In order to show others the error of their ways sometimes it takes showing them examples using thier own methods to show them just how bad it is when it gets done to them!
If someone is shooting a gun at you which is the more effective method of showing them they shold not do that?
Take the high road and reason with him or shoot back?
I’m from NY born and bred…We Shoot Back!
I’m not sure why you keep telling me I didn’t want Reyes back?
My prediction in the contest
Date: December 27, 2011
Years: 5
How much Per Year: $18 million
Where He Signs: NY Mets
“If Reyes signs somewhere for 5 years, and roughly $100million and it comes out that the Mets wouldn’t match then, then yeah I will wonder why and want an explanation.”
“I’m going to go officially on record here, because I don’t want people telling me what I think. I think Jose Reyes is worth $14.25 million a year for 5 years with a 6th as an option with a reasonable buyout.”
I feel/felt that way based on market value for SS’s. I used similar contracts such as Rollins at a similar age, and Hanley Ramirez’s contract as baselines. I used thoughts like “fast players with an injury HISTORY usually don’t get better with age in a post steroid era.”
I offered my opinion on what he was WORTH. Not at all stating he wasn’t worth a dime, but merely setting a parameter that would make me comfortable with his contract.
I also wrote an entire blog going into great detail as to why $100+million contracts often do NOT work out for teams.
I feel Jose Reyes was worth about $15 mil per for 5 years. If he were making $15mil in 2011, he would have been the 2nd highest paid SS behind Jeter.
Tulo isn’t making $15 mil until 2014. Hanley is making $15-16.5m over the next 3 years.
So I’m sorry if me looking at players I considered the best SS’s in the game and deciding what Reyes should get as a fair value is wrong to you.
The Marlins overpaid for him, and in my view they will get not their $’s worth on his contract.
That paired with the financial problems the Mets had this winter, and the 2 DL stints for Reyes allowed me to come up with what I felt was fair value.
And by the way, have you heard of anybody else out there that made Reyes a real offer? The Red Sox needed a SS, where was their offer? Don’t they spend $?
How come everybody in MLB seemed to steer clear of Reyes except a desperate team in Miami?
He had a value, and once price points exceeded that value… it was time to move on.
The Mets aren’t the Yankees and have proven time and time again they are not the best at offering veterans a contract on the open market. Why is that? Because they constantly overvalue players and never get the return on their investment.
So I’m not sorry that I am happy the Mets showed some restraint and decided to have faith in Tejada at SS.
Why? because you didn’t!
Sure you predicted he would get 5 year 18 Mil per contract from us. That doesn’t mean you wanted us to do that just that you expected us to do that!
Guess what…he got a 6 year 17 Mil per contract!
Yet you are on record as saying you didn’t want to sign him for that!
Thats cheaper than you expected we would sign him for and now are trying to say you would be happy with that?
Are you trying to say you don’t believe anything you have said in the past year and a half?
Tulo isn’t making $15 mil until 2014. Hanley is making $15-16.5m over the next 3 years.
Tulo will be making a lot of money for years to come, so yes, his contract is worse than a lot others, yet he’s your boy, you needed to defend him…
The Marlins overpaid for him, and in my view they will get not their $’s worth on his contract.
RIght…. Can we all get the lottery ticket numbers for today? FSB
So I’m not sorry that I am happy the Mets showed some restraint and decided to have faith in Tejada at SS”
You mean sandy alderson?? You know, i don’t even know why metsie or anyone wanna argue or debate with you, it’s like, if someone else wanted reyes they’re wrong and you’re right and that’s the way it should be… Good for you for thinking that way, what’s amazing to me is how you keep taking shots at reyes for taking the money and the marlins for givign it to him yet don’t say sh** about the rockies for unloading the bank on tulo or for him taking it… by the way, he’ll be making $16 million in 2014 and $20 million from 2015-2019, is he worth it??? He’s never hit more than 32 HR in a season, drove 100 RBI once highest BA is 315 so, when can we expect your article about him not worth the $ so you can stop hating on reyes?? Can you please move on already? we get it, you don’t like reyes, fine, move on, he’s a marlin now.. Jeez
I predicted what he’d get, I said if he gets X and the Mets don’t get him, I will be mad.
He didn’t get X, therefore I’m not mad. Stop telling me what I think. I didn’t want Reyes for 6/100+. End of story. I thought the Mets would cave and do 5/18per. It’s not what I saw his value at.
Based on players who play his position I saw him as 5/75-80mil. That’s it.
When I tell you what I believe, do not reply back to me and tell me I’m wrong about what I think.
I wanted him back if it was good for both parties. His contract was not right for both parties, he’s gone. End of story.
Are You seriously THAT stupid??? You wanted the mets who by the way as you pointed out to pay reyes $20 million instead of $17 million????? WHAT???
LOL no he didn’t get X he got less per year than your X and your not mad!
I’m not sure how to put this any more clear to you.
I didn’t want the Mets committing more than 5 years to Reyes.
I felt his value was $75-$80 million over 5 years. Not an additional guaranteed 6th year which would push him to be over $100million.
I thought maybe the market for Jose would drop and frankly if Miami wasn’t desperate, I would have felt pretty good about my 5/18 prediction.
All in all, none of this says I didn’t want him back. So get over your obsession with me and go back to cheering Tejada’s injury for your own benefit.
Tell us all WHY you were so against that 6th year and tell us without trashing Reyes if you can!
Gloated just as much when Reyes went down last year and did an I told you so!”
TRS, see?? metsie is telling the truth, this guy is the worst, he did gloat last year jsut to say an i told you so,… I am glad metsie is ppointing this out, if it was me you probably think i hate the guy.. He does this all the time. he’s a jealous pathetic human beaing, bayonne posted an article about what ojeda said and he ran and posted an article to attack what bayonne had posted, i feel bad for him..
I have no interest in the Reyes debate again, if he did then shame on him. As for his post after Bay’s? I looked at it as a rebuttal and saw nothing disrespectful or attacking.
Saying I don’t want to sign the guy for more than 5/90 is not knocking a guy. I didn’t get heavy into “knocking him” until Game 162 of 2011. So stop re-writing history acting like I would knock him down before 2011 because it simply isn’t true.
Oh and Alex ” he’s a jealous pathetic human beaing, bayonne posted an article about what ojeda said and he ran and posted an article to attack what bayonne had posted”
I didn’t mention Bayonne by name once. I personally linked directly to BMF’s article on my own.
Joe D actually had 0 problem with the post because at no point did I attack Bayonne’s post. I merely provided a different point of view on what Bobby Ojeda said.
Joe D actually had 0 problem with the post because at no point did I attack Bayonne’s post. I merely provided a different point of view on what Bobby Ojeda said”
Sure you did..
It was the contless reasons you kept harping on to sell you I DON’T WANT TO SIGN HIM that we are talking about here!
And chief on that list was his Injries and only playing 130 games PLS his age which meant he would miss even more games in the future!
And the argument made against you then was guys of ALL ages get hurt which you called as CRAZY despite injuries to Ike and Mejia being showed as examples!
Face it you jst don’t ;like it when people use your own jstifications for bitching about Met players and GMs against you!
Your Buddy Xtreeme has on numerous occassions said that Omar was at fault for not having replacements at the ready to deal with injuries Yet here we are again with no credible replacement for pelfrey, and now Tejada. One of the guys mentioned to take over for Tejada is older than your KID ONLY cut off of 26!
Face it what I said that started all this was all abot your assertion that Kids get hurt less than older Vets!
And it chaffs your butt that once again a kid got hurt totally wrecking what you believe and spout as sanity arond here!
Oh so when I said I didn’t want him signed for longer than 5 years, that was me saying I don’t want him. Sorry, I must have forgot to check with you to tell me what I mean before I say anything.
Tell us all something jessup….
WHY didn’t you want him to be signed that long?
You see you keep hiding behind the conclsion you made and forgot to mention all the justification you made to sell that conclusion of yours!
See if you can reiterate the reasons for you not wanting him without trashing reyes in the proccess!
Once again, the subject of Jose Reyes surfaces. He’s gone, kaput. I wish him well. Bye, Jose. Next time be you will be smarter about how you frame contract negotiations. Don’t do it in the press, which brings in a lot of sycophants who don’t know their derrieres from their empty wallets. Also, Peter Greenberg is a turkey for not doing his due diligence. He was the Pied Piper who took Jose for a ride.
Yes Des, Jose is gone….
nfortunatly the mindset that made that happen still remains as do the main propagandists that did their best to sell it to the masses!
This is not about Jose or his leaving….
This is about the Mindset that created that situation and the fact that it will create new situations to complain about later on because no one has learned the lesson of that failure!
The ones who were happy to see reyes go were actually quite in the minority.
And there is a small minority who would be happy to see Wright go too!
I will not say if they are Wright or wrong but (I want him to stay) but when if you can makre a justification for Reyes to leave it’s just as easy to make the same justification for Wright, And if we keep on doing that where will this team be in 4 years?
The reyes issue was one battle in this Philisophical war!
We aren’t fighting that battle still but we are fighting with those who considered that battle a victory for their way of thinking!
And thats pretty much what My statement regarding the 130 games was all about!
You can not avoid injuries they happen! Best you can do is have the dpeth to prepare for dealing with them!
And if a guy does great things when he plays and plays a majority of the games we have, that makes him worth having DESPITE the games he missed!
Metsie — There is apparently some kind of struggle here among groups of members that I think may be fueled by a lack of specifics and general disagreeableness. Often I simply skip by these interneal struggles because I don’t find them instructive and irrelevant to bringing me closer to the field of the game I love. Because of your articulateness and personal view that you are part of this struggle, I’m requsting that you help define the disagreements. I’d like the dialog to be more than a game of Wak-A-Mole. Thanks in advance.
1) You reference a “Mindset” that led to a past problem with Reyes and will happen again. Specifically, what is that mindset?
2) You reference a failure to learn from a lesson that failure will recur in the future. What do you mean?
3) You say there is a small minority that will be happy to see Wright go. Over the past year, while Wright was dealing with multiple injury issues, I noticed that the number of negative comments about Wright swelled. Now that David has recovered and is doing well, the numbers are shrinking. Do you think the numbers of negative comments is small and that most fans on MMO don’t want David to go?
4) You seem to feel that the similarities in the Reyes and Wright scenarios are likely to mean the same sequence of events will occur. What are the similarities you see? Do you think David and Jose handled the issue the same? (P.S.: I don’t)
5) You reference a philosophical war with “we” and “they” sides. What is this war about, who are these sides, and what can be done about it?
I will try as best I can Des…
1 – (Mindset and this could be a long explanation here)) there is a mindset that FA should be avoided at all costs unless it is a bandaid 1 or 2 yr contract for bottom of the barrel talent. Also a Mindset that anyone approaching 27 years of age is too old to commit to. Also a Mindset that you shold only fill with Kids and rookies you draft even if it means there is no competing in the year until those kids get up here! And finally a mindset that what happens 4 years from now is more important than what happens now, That losing 4 years now in the hopes of winning something in 5 years is somehow better than winning now and losing the next 4 years!
2 – (Lessons) – Lesson A) Chief among the lessons is the one that showed: NOT negotiating with a player does not reduce the amount you will need to pay to keep him. We saved and gained nothing by not giving reyes an offer during exclusive rights and he got what he was going to get regardless of our stance! And once that market bar was set there was no way to get him to accept a lesser offer. This lesson if not learned and the mistake repeated could lead to Wright signing elsewhere all because some are too afraid to set the market and would prefer to have the market dictate terms to them! The Market dictated what Reyes would sign for when the lesson that should be learned is never let the Market get a chance to set the bar on players you want to keep!
Lesson B) is the concept that it is better to waste money for a year on players who aren’t any good and suck but wasting money on a GOOD player who might be injured and lost for a year is worse if it happens 1 year out of 5 in a 5 year contract where the other 4 years are exactly what you paid for! This would apply to the notion that castillo and Delgado was a failed signing and also the alluded to knocks on beltran as evidence that a long term contract is a mistake! Santana would be used right now if he were having trouble but his performance has made those who don’t like long term contracts of any kind shy away from making such statements at this point. If he should go back on the DL just watch the posts from this group!
Lesson C) The notion that filling in part time players is more important than filling full time players! We fixed a pen at the expense of fixing a starting rotation. We all knew Santana had a good chance of going on the DL and despite his not we are still left with no option to replace pelfrey!
There are more but those most apply tio this thread.
3 – Well it is Wrights current performance that is keping his detractors quiet but wait till (if) he goes into an extended slump. it wasn’t his injuries that really started the complaints it was his performance compared to reyes who at the time was being taken to task for nbot being worth signing and the counter to that was well then how is Wright after his disappointing seasons.
4 – The Similarities with Wright and reyes are all about how do you approach his contract when it is up! Many felt it was a mistake to not trade reyes to get what you could or to not extend him before the season even started. That latter scenario is still possible with Wright bt yet we still hear people wondering what we could get for Wright at the deadline! And if the same STANCE is taken with Wright as was taken with Reyes if and when he makes it to FA will we again save money on what it will take to keep Wright the way we did when it was Reyes we refused to “Bid Against Ourselves”? As for how they will handle it Reyes did the only thing he could do! Sandy wouldn’t make an offer so he went arond the league to get one and having get one Sandy refused to meet the market he wanted to set the price on Reyes that he refused to set!If the same thing happens again with Wright what choice will Wright have? Give p 10 mil to be loyal to a GM who showed no interest before then in showing what he thoght he was worth?
5 – The philisophical difference is the KEY to all of the above. The situations are just the symptoms of that philisophical battle that is being waged! One side of the battle wants to build using only kids and the draft. FA is merely to buy bandaids to fill in for a year all the positions you haven’t drafted for yet. This side also doesn’t care about losing although they claim they want to win the question is WHEN! They claim winning now means losing 4 years from now but losing now means winning 4 years from now! The wins are eqal on both sides the only difference is if you win NOW you might keep on winning and if you lose now you might never get that win in the future! It is mostly a philosphical difference in SPENDING! Some refuse to spend other say spend when it is appropriate and I’m sure there are a few who think the yankees have it right!
5 – This war is about how to build a tream, some want a moneyball non-spending approach, others want to forgoe spending to build slowly from the draft, and the other side wants to see the team improved every year and make every year count as opposed to waiting 4 years for the maybe’s we have collected to win something. And if it means spending money so be it the Wilpons should spend the money! Spending sure wold help their Attendance issues!
Hope that covers everything you asked…I have to go off to brief a client.
Metsie — Thanks for stating your views. I really appreciate it. You and I have different views about how to best negotiate, buy most of what you’re stating is similar to my views. Again: THANKS!!!!
Alex, and of course they leave out that he said “Here is hoping tejada gets back quick!”
Actually I didn’t miss it at all. I never said “Metsie hates Ruben and wants him injured”. What I said was it was a hell of a time to use it to advance his own agenda.
Vinny, that’s what they do… shouldn’t be a surprise…
“THEY” dismiss passive aggressive comments, that’s right.
No some of us are proving a point about DEPTH and INJURY that was once the reason some of your friends knocked Omar for not having!
I’m not happy about Tejada getting hurt at all!
But now that all your statements about how great this team is being built is falling apart you have to make it sound like I’m happy about it!
Funny how you 2 get on metsie for saying that, yet both of you let this comment that was made: “Mr. Doubles” He’s a really good ballplayer without the drama-queen flash” Pass by like it was nothing… The Desert and the baiter at their best… SMH
Funny how you continue to misuse the word baiter while YOU are the one that makes up crap that doesnt exist? The doubles comment was not a slam, just like SA comments the other day were not either yet you blew a gasket because it was a comment from SA?
Grow up already, it is time.
Kay, this is my definition of what you do in this blog:
http://www.clipartguide.com/_named_clipart_images/0511-0810-2705-1137_Man_Fishing_in_a_Row_Boat_clipart_image.jpg
Actually Alex, I was reading this story this morning and was going to make a comment. At that time I had not even read the other comments besides Metsie. That being said how is saying this anything like saying the other? This is using an injury to boast your own agenda, seems a little low for even Metsie. As for Kay that’s her decision on what she believes or views no grouping please.
Speaking of the Desert Alex. I wrote a piece just now contemplating trading “my hero”. I am sure you would like it. Also it presents the story like there are only two sides so I am assuming a few others on here would like it as well as they never see a middle ground.
Uhhh What????
It isn’t the first time Alex. In fact back during the off-season I linked to a story for you where I had done that before.
Actualy TRS you do kind of have it backwards…It wasn’t to promote my Agenda it was to point out the stupidity of other’s agenda, the one that says anyone over 36 is not wortjh having because they are old and likely to get injured and decline!
Tejada isn’t even close to 26 yet and yet he still got hurt!
THAT was the point I was pushing, to counter this AGENDA of KIDS ARE BETTER than EXPERIENCED! For reasons of health!
Whatever Metsie, I called you out on it. If you don’t like that fact, sorry and I am moving on. I have no interest in debating it. I am much more concerned with Ruben’s injury, Ike’s approach and Niese’s next outing.
Well if your considering my Agenda as being that which is trying to stop someone else’s Agenda then you are correct!
As for tejada I made it pretty clear I hope he gets back soon!
That was ignored only because I hit that nerve I knew I was going to hit when I made the first point about INJRIES!
Which is you can’t predict for them you can’t BUILD them out of your roster and any attention paid to them is futile, any attempt to get young hoping to avoid them is futile!
So better to just get all the best guys you can get so if and when an Injury happens it can’t really hrt you because you got good players to trn to when they happen!
If thats an Agenda fine but I call it more of a philosophy and it is a conter to the one that jessup and some other have around here, Buy Cheap Buy Young Don’t Commit and take the tortise path via drafting!
More of you telling me what my thoughts are.
And why are you always yelling?
You browser has a volume button for text? really?
Pointless remark meant to try and make me out as some bad guy while you avoid the subject…
Why am I telling you what yor thoughts are?
I’m not I’m just repeating things YOU said in your concerted propaganda campaign from last year!
And mostly because you lie like a rug when you say anything in response to your views that have been tripped up by events!
WHY DIDN”T YOU WANT REYES SIGNED LONG TERM?
Therin will lay the answers to how you trashed reyes last year!
So basically you were baiting and instigating with your passive aggressive comment.
Yep! You Got IT!
I did what you do on a daily basis only I did by making a baseball point as opposed to what you do commentary on a commentator with no baseball being mentioned at all!
Who is the worse at the baiting here kay Me who made a baseball point or you who did not and has not for this entire thread?
Metsie, you know what gets to me, there’s articles been written kissing alderson’s a** yet jesseP NEVER writes an article back, but to prove somehow bayonne wrong he counter attacks him with another article… He’s pathetic..
He did that because he needed a bigger audience for his propaganda!
If he said in the proper context as a comment to bayonne’s post it could be ingnored but by creating a seperate article it did THREE things…
1 – Got front page status for better notice
2 – Pulled the conversation over to HIS article hoping to stop people from reading the original and throwing that post and it’s commentary under the rug!
3 – Made bayonne’s post one more article away from being placed on the second page of articles where most users don’t go past the first!
To be honest though it’s not really that hard to prove Bay wrong…
just saying. As for your battles with Jessup? LOL y’all have at it. I would not want to be on either side of that debate.
Well in this case it obviously WAS hard enogh to cause Jessp to ake a new thread to hide the one that was already started!
Jessup could have easily made his points in the comments and made his case…
He chose to make a new story and move the conversation from what Bay said to what he was saying…
Is that because it was so easy to prove Bay wrong or because it was just easier to hide the fact what Bay said was true and most analysts agree with it and therefore the only way to combat that was to try and hide it and create a DIVERSION from the facts jessup doesn’t want people to hear about?
I wrote my piece that night, saw the same clip as BMF and gave my point of view.
I linked directly to BMF’s post (which I didn’t have to do).
If I wanted to hide his post, I sure am dumb for linking directly to it. I also didn’t mention BMF nor did I bring up any views I have with regards to often disagreeing with BMF. I also provided a different point of view using research and statistics to what Bobby Ojeda said. Not to what BMF said.
Also instead of automatically posting it (which I could have), I scheduled it for 10AM the next morning – which did 2 things
A) Gave BMF’s post the space
B) Gave Joe D a chance to cancel the scheduling if he felt it was a retaliation post.
Joe saw it scheduled and asked me about it to make sure my intentions were about the Ojeda comments etc.
After Joe read it, I wrote to him
“was it fair?” to which he replied “Oh yes definitely. Not a problem at all.”
So, I think we can put to bed any conspiracy theories. Joe was looking out for Bayonne’s post, saw mine and asked me about it and then after he read it, he saw it to be a fair post.
End of story. Take your need to trash everything I do to the next blog please.
Metsie, everything you said it’s true, he felt bayonne had a great article and he needed to take the spotlight away from him. too bad his POS* article only got like 16 comments or so, but i had not seen anyone else post an article hours after once was posted, a pathetic attempt at getting audience and to take away what bayonne did… He’s jealous, he’s a slimy person and as you mentioned, people saw right through what he tried to do and didn’t bother as much…
Shame on Joe D for allowing that article to be posted, he could’ve easily said no jesseP, commment on the thread as others do in yours or wait till tomorrow…
Yep and decided to make a new article as opposed to just saying your piece in the comment section where all the other arguments were being made!
So you took advantage of you aythor status to get a leg up on your POV and split the debate from the one that already existed!
You know kind of like setting up a counter protest to offset one that is already protesting?
Oldest trick in the book!
You know kind of like setting up a counter protest to offset one that is already protesting?”
BINGO!!!! basically a Do****b** move… That’s exactly what he did, and the reason he did it is because he did not want bayonne’s article to gain attention and comments since is BMF the one who holds the record for most comment in an article in this site…
I have often been a critic of Ruben’s talents, finding analyses speculative and hyped. But the kid is playing good baseball now and he’ll be missed. So here’s my hope for you, Ruben:
GET WELL SOON
You have to love Ruby Tuesday. Here is a player that cannot escape comparisons or nicknames by default. (I happen to like Murph’s designated nickname) He has been rock solid on offense and defense well beyond expectations.
Now that he had what amounts to a hustle injury will Met fans truly forget Jose by missing Ruben? That is a tad ironic.
Ruben plays the game on his own two feet, will be back, and is dedicated to being part of a winner.
I am hoping he bounces back because he is what makes the infield strong up the middle and Murph will struggle without him.
If he is saying he could play in a few days I believe him. Just don’t want to make a decision that could make a nagging injury linger. I would also prefer to see what Spin as to offer as his recent cup of coffee was not a complete picture. Quintanilla ot so much. Cedeno coming back would be alright but he is a better back up to our shortstop than an everyday guy.
Speedy recovery Ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuben!
I’d like to see Turner get alot a few starts at short.
Off Topic: Giants reliever Guillermo Mota suspended 100 games after testing positive for PEDs
http://blog.sfgate.com/giants/2012/05/07/giants-reliever-guillermo-mota-suspended-100-games-after-testing-positive-for-peds/
Mota doesn’t have the brains that God gave to green apples!
why couldn’t he have gotten snagged before he pitched (effectively) against the Mets?
My guess, Valdy is just up for the Phillies series. When Cedeno comes back, he will become the regular SS, and Spin goes back to AAA to play every day.
Otherwise (if they didn’t want to start Cedeno0, they should have called up Quantilla, and made room on the 40 man for him (biting that bullet). That though would not make sense if they were planning to use Cedeno instead.
