He is notoriously very slow to start and does his best work in the second half of the season.
Perhaps the weather conditions have an affect on how his ball breaks or his control or maybe he just takes a very long time to find his mechanics.

This guy is better once the temperature rises or after some adjustment he makes halfway through the season.
If it is an adjustment then Warthen should be on top of it.
If it really is the weather having an affect on how his stuff works then time to get a new pitcher who doesn’t need an act of god or a particular distance from the sun to be a good pitcher LOL

Rauch is gone at the end of the year barring a resigning and if you make him the closer and he does manage to succeed then you increased his asking price for next year!

Parnell has more team control attached to him and if he can take over the closer role we have a pretty good one to hold us for the immediate future until such time as the Starter/Reliever determination on Mejia is complete!

Parnell is never going to be Rivera and truth is neither is Rauch.
But the closer is something that better to fill for the long term as setup men and ancillary BP arms are a dime a dozen.
So I would rather we let Parnell get another shot now that he seems to be pitching instead of throwing this year and only if he fails should we look to put Rauch in that role!

Why not Parnell, he is no young pup and he seems to have learned not to pump the heater in there all the time and use his curve on occasion for a change of speed plus he is not trying to blow hitters away all the time as in the past and is keeping it around 95, yeah many wish they could keep it only at 95, and use his spots and off speed pitch.

Acosta needs to be sent down. Throwing heat allows for many opportunities but Manny needs a bigger park to pitch in with forty foot outfield walls. Throwing heat right down broadway will never be successful. The Braves let him go for this reason.
Give Frankie the seventh inning until he proves he can control more than one pitch. Send Remierez down and let him work out the kinks, cannot afford that at the major league level.
Bring up Hefner, Olson or Carson, lets see what they can do, cannot due any worse. Maybe Collins needs to let his starters pitch another inning or two at the proper times. Seaver, Koosman et al used to pitch deep into games back in the day. I understand the shift to bullpen specialist, Tim Brydak has be amazing, but some of the other pen arms have not been so special.
