But let’s be real. Nimmo has tools, and if he isn’t starting as a rookie Met outfielder in 5-6 years, then a lot of people will have been wrong about him, and that would make him a bust. I would be very surprised if he were a bust, and I would be one of those people looking stupid at that point.

Vaughn, I think, is going to be a monster, a beast. Like his daddy with his power, and yet unlike his father, sleek, graceful, and athletic in the field. His power is scary though and he’s still growing.

Taijeron is also a physical specimen who hits with awe inspiring power. I think he will emerge as a top home run hitter.

I can’t see Gomez or Lagares unseating any of those three, in five years from now. Not to mention that Nieuwenhuis and perhaps Duda could still be in the outfield mix at that time.

Gomez might develop into something fantastic, he might not, it’s still rather early to know as we are dealing with a very small sample size with him.

Lagares is to me an ideal fourth outfielder. He doesn’t have the speed or instincts to play a superb CF. He doesn’t have nearly enough power at this point for a big league corner OF starting assignment. But he has speed, versatility, and he makes contact, which makes him an excellent candidate for the future bench.

So for now I’ll answer your question Alex by saying….ummmmm……on the bench?

I like Both and sspect Both will be here in 2017 but this piece was pretty much a way of showcasing the kids we have down and where they might be capable of playing not so much what pete actally believes is going to be the roster in 2017.

It’s good in that it shows just how much talent and a variety of positions we have in the Minors that many don’t believe we have becase all they look at is BA’s list and nothing else!

Of course there is no way that our 2017 Roster is going to be all homegrown as is listed.

Ike makes Wright better by digging out those throws he sometimes loses it on, Save the pitchers some Runs by better 1B defense and their averages are not all that far apart to take one bat over the other to trump the glove.

If Ike was a low average power hitter maybe but he has in the past been a good to high average power hitter like Duda! What he give up to Duda on the average he more than makes up for with better power so I would take ike over Duda if I had to choose.

He really is too slow to be a corner OFer having to get to balls in the corner, any hit down the 1B line is almost a guaranteed triple!
Maybe in time he can change my mind though.
