Collins tried to lose the game by removing Dickey but even that couldn’t bring down the Mets. Collins has no clue how to manage his pitchers and its just going to drain the already bad bullpen before too long. Dickey should have pitched a complete game or at least gone farther into the game. Good that the Mets won but the bullpen gives me headaches.

Agreed, but I am guessing this is the most frustrating part of managing to most of us armchair guys/fans. Figuring out exactly when to remove a pitcher who is doing what he’s supposed to when your team is down a run or so, or tied. I have to believe these are agonizing decisions, and I imagine TC had no qualms about R.A.’s continued ability to make outs, but I suppose he figured that Dickey might kill a rally by batting lead off and whiffing or making an out. Better let Torres do that instead… So it goes.

Great game by dickey who’s pitching like an all star this year, great clutch pick me up hit by lucas duda, who came trough after david the MVP wright struck out. I read a funny line by collins who after andres the nice guy torres struck out said: “had i known that, i would’ve left dickey in, he could’ve done that” Lol.. Let’s get the series win today and come back home…

Apparently, TC and Warthen discussed removing R.A. in that spot for the great Torres. Warthen didn’t think it would make a difference, and that R.A. could keep getting ‘er done.

In the end, T.C. sort of made the right decision as he hoped for a rally, and we ended up scoring two, though the leadoff man didn’t matter at all, and that would have been R.A.

Maybe FF begins to turn things around for a while.

Nickeas was dazed and confused after game b/c of three different knuckleballs that R.A. had going. All things considered, R.A. is more of an ace at this point than The Johan.

Here’s hoping the bats find some life tonight. Let’s see if Niese can turn a few bad starts around, too.

R.A. got the win which was great but using your best PH to bat leadoff, cause of lack of hitting doesn’t leave much in terms of hitters on bench, Hairston who is a HR or K guy and Torres who doesn’t seem to know how to bunt for a hit at least try it since you aren’t hitting.

Untile Thole and Tejada return then this lineup can’t sustain innings plus the lack of power, Ike, is making it harder to score runs in bunches so we shall see what happens to Ike after tomorrow’s game.

The big question of the night is – How bad is Ike Davis?

The big guy is hitting a buck nothing with no improvement in sight.

He’ll need to be sent back to the minors where he can (hopefully) work out his problems.

Funny how many on this forum were considering him an all star and the future of the Mets during the off season while trying to trade Murph and David. Without those two we would be at least ten games under .500 right now.

Duda was great – he hit what could have been a normal grounder through the first baseman’s glove. He hits the ball so hard that unless its hit right at somebody its very hard to field.

Talk about 2 lineups struggling to score runs. Though give some credit to McDonald and Dickey. 18 strikeouts combined between the 2. A rare 3 strikeout night for Wright.

Ike just continues to struggle. Collins said they were going to wring the rag dry before deciding to send Ike down. That rag looks to just about be wrung. Positive tonight was simply Francisco giving us a 1-2-3 9th inning.

Niese on the hill 2morrow hopefully they can win it and split the road trip 3-3 as they come home to face the Padres.

There have been may times when I wanted to punch Collins as hard as I could humanly punch someone and tonight was just another one of those times. How in the world do you PH for RA there with only 88 pitches and in total control of that game and then use Andres 1 for 34 Torres to do the pinch hitting. Not to mention handing that game off to the bullpen. Just like lifting Niese when he was throwing a shutout against the Marlins and PH with a flu ridden 170 hitting Ike Davis with a 438 hitting Mike Baxter getting splinters on his ass still on the bench. This guy can not manage a game to save his life. We are now seeing why no one would hire this moron to manage since 1999. He’s Jerry Manuel with a fiery personality, nothing more.

I remember how terrible a move I thought it was when Omar Minaya signed Dickey and now he is my favorite Met and I even bought a Dickey jersey in April. If you haven read his book, you should. He’s a class act and we’re lucky to have him.

Dickey was just cruising along tonight with those 11 Ks. I’m still scratching my head at lifting him for a PH, especially Torres. Torres?

Byrdak is almost automatic anymore.

Good to see a couple of the other guys step up to get the job done on a rare night that DWright goes 0 for.

Let’s take the rubber game tomorrow – and the series.
