Thanks, all! I just wish Saturday's game would have been the 8,000th game instead of Friday. I'm not just saying that because Friday was a walk-off loss. I'm saying it because on Saturday, David Wright hit a home run on the way to a 9-3 Mets' victory over the Marlins. In the team's 7,000th game (April 7, 2006), Wright also hit a home run and the Mets defeated the Marlins by the final score of 9-3. The symmetry would have been perfect. Here's the link to the boxscore of that 7,000th game.

Oh, and Fonzie, you are correct. It did take some time (Two days to be exact, not being finished until after the 8,000th game was complete). Fortunately, I have a wife who's also a Mets blogger (far better than I'll ever be) and she understood that writing pieces that look back at all 50 years of Mets history (kinda like what I did in the MMO Annual ... you did buy that one, right?) is like Mets porn to me. Once I start writing it, I just have to finish...
