You can win the game 14-1 but if you drove in the first run of the game you were credited with a game winning RBI so it’s not incredible at all. And he’s the most OVER-RATED home grown position player in franchise history not the greatest. Ed Kranepool led the Mets in several home grown categories for many years but was never considered the greatest Met because of that.

Craig is a cybermetrics/moneyball nut and those guys love Wright more because of his numbers than anything else. Nowhere in this post does it mention anything else about his overall game including defense and I certainly hope never to see Wright’s #5 next to a true Met legend’s number like Tom Seaver.

Met fans hold onto Wright like that other over-rated player from across town from years ago – Don Mattingly. He had a couple really great years but Yankee fans still treat him like he’s a Yankee legend when he’s not.

Some great and weird names there.

Right now, there is a long unknown period to mitigate risk over (injury possibility, what if he has a bad year). So it is a huge guess (projection) what he will get way down the road. not so when you are a FA, sorting through offers!

If he does an extension this year, there is nothing actual to compare it against to say he took a lower offer.

Let’s keep this in proper perspective. it’s not this Mets RBI total is really something to be proud of. I mean 735 RBIs is not that impressive an RBI total. It doesn’t even put him on the top 500 of all time list.

The other top leaders on the Mets list only played fractions of their careers with the Mets.

To me, this just highlights the Mets inability to develop and keep true run producing talent and just the overall lack of run producers the Mets have had. It’s too bad, because once again it looks like we might lose an all time Mets great to another team before they ever accomplish anything.

As my grandfather would say, this record just makes Wright the prettiest girl in the ugly row.

What if I agree with the Beltran trade, don’t like the fact that we didn’t bring in enough SP depth, loved Reyes but didn’t want to pay him 100M+, like Wright think he is a good player but neither great nor unclutch… What if I liked a lot of the moves Omar made and supported him until the end but was saw the time was for change and was excited about the rational approach Sandy would bring. What if I like Collins but am not big on Wally, think that Wheeler, Harvey and Familia will turn out to be good pitchers. What the hell group am I in? I get confused here. LOL. I know, I know I am a Mets fan.

I’ve pleaded that too but to no avail…, I’ve heard of Met fans hating Yankee Fans and vice versa and the same with the Mets and Phillies – but Met on Met? That’s sad.

I really do not know how long this great divide existed, at least on MMO. But it does seem that the Sandy Alderson hiring has really split people into two camps – those pro Sandy/sabremetrics/moneyball and those con Sandy/sabremetrics/moneyball – which is fine with me since all know where I stand on that issue. But even though these might be passionite issues with many of us, why it has over-taken civility with some, I will never know. Believe me, I have been zapped by the best of them here.
