Watch It Again: Bay’s Sensational Catch

Last night, Jason Bay had a coming out party of sorts as he not only belts his second home run of the season and is showing some signs he may be ripe for a rebound, but he also made a sensational leaping catch to rob Jack Wilson of a home run in the fifth inning.

“It’s one of those things, it’s almost like tunnel vision. I know I’m getting close to the wall, I know it’s there, the ball’s coming down, and I know I’m getting ready to jump. You can kind of see everything starting to come together, and I’m thinking, ‘I have a legitimate shot to grab this.’”

Enjoy it again:

  • My only hope is that Duda, followed by Ike, then Pelf, then Thole etc all get a jammed finger.

The jammed finger is the new slump buster!

    • hey jesseP, if you jammed a finger and need one.. i’ll be sure to give you one!

  • Great pic of Jason Bay.

  • Gotta give Bay credit here. Padded though it is, if you watch the video replay you’ll see Bay’s head smack right into the wall as he’s coming down with the ball. Knowing that serious concussion lost him most of the season, he didn’t even hesitate here.

  • Hopefully this game is kind of the turning point or getting over the hump day for Bay.

  • I love how Bay shows no emotion after the catch…he just throws the ball back in and picks up his hat like it’s business as usual.

But watch his HRs he’s hit, especially the one in Philly, you can see him mumbling to himself hoping that the ball gets out.

  • The best part was his post game interview. Basically the entire theme of the presser was “so you didn’t stink up the place today, tell us about that?”

Hopefully he is turning it around.

  • You go Jason. Boos turn to hurrah’s swiftly in NY. With Bay all the way we need him to be very big this year. I’ll tell you what. The likes of Duda, Davis, Nieuwenhaus, can’t dog a damn thing with Jason in the lineup, clubhouse, and on this team. No one can. He got up and threw the ball back in no fist pumping, no glory, a day’s work. Gee said “Wow” and we know how he pitched after that!

He followed that catch with a little bit left of center HR. Yes! So we were up already but who knows when those runs will count down the road. I hope he goes on a tear!

  • i told you folks … he will be doing just fine enough . Oh, we are on a pace for 102Wins ;)
