I agree that catching is basically a FA position. Not many teams have a homegrown catcher that are in contention anyway.

I’m with you. Catching is weak across the board in the MLB. There are only a handful of decent guys and the rest are interchangeable from a offensive standpoint. I would much rather go for offensive talent in other areas like the outfield. Really all depends what is there. And if there is another pitching stud that drops in their lap, then take him. I don’t really care how weak offensively the minors is, you can never have enough pitching.

Also a HS catcher, if it pans out you got to wait like 5 years. Take the HS risks anywhere but catcher.

Ya, if he sticks at catcher, it would be at least a solid 5 years before you can really bring him up.

But, I really want aguy named Stryker on the team. Please tell that is actually his name.

A HS catcher? One of the longer development timelines in BB. And he will pretty much have nothing to do with Thole, since by the time he would likely develop to be ready for the majors, Thole could be long gone (heck, he would probably have hit FA by then).

So draft him if you think he really has the talent and upside to be a really good player. Just not because you have a need on the big club, or want someone to be ready quickly.

I like Trahan a lot, of course Zunino is the best choice but obviously he goes top 3. Still we need a catcher desperately and Trahan could become a Mike Napoli type catcher.

God, I hope so. Josh Thole is awful and there’s nothing on the farm.

So many teams have good catchers that, if you don’t, you’re at a competitive disadvantage.
