If he could do it for two or three months he would present the organization with some interesting possibilities. There seems to be no question that he projects as a major offensive talent. 25 is not young but Utley started out late as a big leaguer. But that is a big IF. No matter what he does from here on out, ho wlong would he have to stay healthy for the organization to actually PLAN on him for the future?

Add to those rumors that reportedly he has trouble with breaking balls and it would seem like calling him up was an exercise in humility.

Up here you’re a bench player, when you get to play see if you can handle it. Can’t hack it? Go back down and get to work cause there’s a lot you can improve on.

Obviously this is complete speculation on my part. Pieces just seem to fit.
