It wasnt that long ago that Zunino was looked at as a late first rounder, now he’s a potential number one overall! .

I wouldnt get too concerned over Prince’s comment and that site he linked. First of all they don’t source anything, mostly just screenshots and the kind of stuff they do at MetsBlog. I took one look and thought it was a joke.

ESPN just had an article 2 days ago saying “Buxton making BID for No. 1 pick” I don’t really call that set in stone.

You criticize me having Dahl at 12 because his “stock is falling” but that link has him going No. 9 so go figure right?

One other thing. Giolito never had surgery let alone major surgery so I don’t really know what your sources/research are.

I think points 1 and 4 contradict each other. If Appel isnt the top pick it will be Buxton.

Giolito is the biggest wild card, but he wold be the top talent if not for an injury so it isn’t crazy to think a team with take the risk early on because with the new CBA if he isn’t picked that early it is almost a guarantee he will be at UCLA next year.

I have Gausman as the second best pitcher behind Giolito (assuming healthy). If not healthy I agree with you.

umm, there’s no research or analysis on that list? It’s just a list of names when you have no analysis to go with it. I was expecting to see something exciting and good from the way you described it, and instead it’s just a list that doesn’t even explain it’s reasoning. Anyhow I wouldn’t have even commented but you wanted my thoughts.

I think you did a decent job with your draft…
You got the number 1 and 2 pick wrong which are the easiest picks in the draft.
It isn`t March anymore and everyone knows who the consensus number 1 pick is. The number 1 pick is going to Byron Buxton guaranteed. He is the best talent in the whole draft and is very polished for a HS hitter. The number 2 pick will be Appel and not Zunino. Zunino is going to be the number 3 pick. I appreciate your research but you have serious re-arranging to do. Dahl will not chosen by the Mets. He just got injured and his stock is falling when OF prospect stocks like Albert Almora are rising. Dahl can be the 15th pick but not 12th.
Giolito WILL NOT go in the top 5. He had major surgery and it is a major question if he goes in the top 10. The Mets have a pretty realistic shot at Giolito.
I suggest you go see other mocks, my favorite being by a writer from Macks Mets.

Personally, I feel the link above is MUCH more accurate than yours but yours was still a great read.

You guys are really rocking it with this stuff lately, you’ve become a first rate site. A few gripes though, small ones actually.

1. I dont think anyone still believes Appel will be the top pick.

2. No way Giolito goes that high with that injured elbow.

3. Gausman will be the top pitcher in the draft.

4. I dont see Buxton in the top 10.

Same thing I was thinking.

If you told me about two weeks we could’ve had even a shot at getting Dahl, I would’ve laughed. Now it looks possible. I really do want us to draft either a catcher or a pitcher since I’m always up for arms (and yeah, Fried does look like he fits the fold of a future ace). Trahan is the only catcher that would be worth drafting in the first besides Zunino, and there’s no way he falls to us. Shame.

Haha I hadn’t realized I did that with the logos.

Originally I thought there was ZERO shot that Dahl fell to us, same with Marrero, but as the draft gets closer it is seeming more and more likely that it could happen. I agree with jumping on Fried or Trahan if they are there. Fried reminds me of a Kershaw lite and Trahan is an just a terrific all-around talent.

Hey Nick,

You have the new logos for Miami and the Rays and you took it back a few years with the ARZ logo. Caught me off guard for a second.

I like Dahl for us, I don’t know if he’ll fall to us, but the pick isn’t bad at all.

I also like Fried and Trahan. It’s been a while since we’ve taken a top catcher and I wouldn’t mind it. If Styker falls to us, I say we jump.
