Reyes NEVER Turned down the Mets before the Marlins came calling!

Because there was no offer and no parameters for him to turn down…Sansy didn’t make them! Sandy set no parameters until he was sure what parameters would be DEFINITLY turned down!

He made NO discussions of Parameters before the Marlins had which is what I said!
He didn’t make an offer or even SPEAK to Reyes UNTIL someone else made an offer Sandy could then PRETEND to be interested in by setting HIS paramters just short of what he knew he would accept!

Tp prove your point you would have to show proof that Sandy set parameters BEFORE Reyes was free to deal that Reyes turned down…

Where is yor proof that he made an offer or talked parameters before Reyes was allowed to get other offers to compare it to?
Why didn’t he make those parametes knows BEFORE the Marlins made an offer?
Is it because he (like you) were scared the answer would have been YES and you would have had to keep him?

It’s finally worth noting that you have no idea what you’re talking about. Sports agents have relationships with General Managers. Conversations such as “what are you thinking?” happen all the time. Reyes’ agent also represents Johan Santana, RUBEN TEJADA, and Jenrry Mejia. If you think Sandy Alderson and Peter Greenberg don’t discuss things, then you just have no clue what an agents job is.

An agents job is to represent his client and get him the best situation he can for that players needs. An agent would be a fool if he didn’t check in with the Mets to see what they were thinking on a contract.

I’ve shared some of my sources on people who work for top level sports agencies with JoeD before, so don’t ask me for proof on knowing what a sports agent does and doesn’t do because I’m not sharing that info with you.

All I can say is that there is no chance Peter Greenberg has a job if he didn’t find out directly from the Mets what type of deal they would look to offer. “Making an official offer,” is a PR move by Reyes and his camp to make him look less like a bad guy.

I certainly didn’t bring up the Reyes issue here.

I agree reyes is gone and there is nothing that can be done about it.
I didn’t try start the conversation by pumping up Reyes it was started by those who have nothing better to do than Malign a guy who gave us some pretty great baseball while he was here and got paid accordingly despite that salary being more than Sandy wanted to spend.

It is a testament to just who is more interested in the subject of reyes and putting Negative/Positive spin on the matters regarding him because they still haven’t come to grips with the fact if he is horrible it will prove them correct and if he’s not from here on out INcorrect.
But they still feel the need to trash the guy and used the article about honoring a guy who did some great things for our team, is our only batting title champion to date, Probably leads the franchise in RS all because they can’t let the thought that Reyes was a good player for us creep out for fear of that eventual proving of their wrongness!

So they trash the fact we want to honor all the good he gave us merely becase he saw no reason to try and impress a GM that had no intentions of signing him with 3 more ABs and take the risk he could get hurt and ruin his chance at getting other offers elsewhere!
