Lutz would be smart if he asked Wally Backman to let him play in the OF while in Buffalo. There are dual obstacles to his advancement to the majors named Wright and Davis. However, there is Neiuwenhuis, Duda and that guy who should be released playing LF. Shift Duda to LF and open up right for the power hitting Lutz (or the OF-learning Valdespin).

Fred,
Not leaving out any ball players that I enjoy watching. Leathersich is another great ball player and would like to see him climb to the top with Chism. I was around when Frank V. use to play. He wasn't a strike out kinda a guy. Wasn't even a real hard pitcher. He just conqured with his style of pitching. Chism to me, has that same style of pitching, getting the job done even if it's not striking them all out! Along with Leathersich,Camarena, Morel, Pill, Montero, Seng, Verrett, Vazquez, they all have high strike out numbers. Chism didn't have the high strike out numbers last year, but did you look at all his stats across the board without the strike out numbers! Now, that's what I am talking about!!
This is a new season, best to all !!!!!

Hi fred, thanks for responding. Yes Leathersich is off to a very good start, but I couldn't list everybody who is off to a good start, because the piece would have simply been too long. There will be new lists like this one released every week during the season, so if "The Rocket" keeps going like he is, he will make the list fairly easily in the future.

Petey Pete,

Thanks for sending the interview with TJ Chism. I really enjoyed reading it. Not only has talent, but seems like a really nice guy who loves the game of baseball! I was talking to a guy yesterday from the Mets organization. Can't mention his name, but he spent some time with the team the last couple of games. He told me rumor has it, if T keeps doing as good has he is, he will be in Port St Lucie within the month! I have never seen a relief pitcher execute under pressure the way this guy does...all in all, I think that amazes me the most!!

Thanks again

Leathersich is an absolute beast. Between his short stint last year and so far this season he's pitched a combined 21 innings and has struck out 41 walked only 5 and given up only 9 hits. At the rate he's going he'll be up in Binghamton before the end of the year.

Hey Petey, any word on Cory Vaughn he's missed the last couple of games.

He's another player that has been hot and he seems to have cut down on K's and has been drawing a lot of walks his last few games.

To be honest our whole farm system is playing exceptionally well across the board. I'm honestly excited about the Mets minors for the first time in a while. And the players that are producing are both Omar & Sandy guys although I know some would credit Sandy alone.

Petey, Pete,

I would have to say that Chism was a slow starter, starting in the professional league, Last years numbers were out of the park, and he started this year where he left off last year! I realize he is a relief pitcher, but lets give credit where due! I hope to see more of his talent (playing time) this year! I have to say, I really like his pitching style! Not what you would call a very fast pitcher, but he gets the job done!! Let's face it, we need to see more of that in the Mets league! Keep an eye on this guy!!!!

Thanks!

Petey Pete, even though I love your minors stuff, I disagree with you on Familia. Familia to myself is still too stiff and awkward, his fastball too straight and flat and hittable and Familia has usually had control and command issues his entire career in the minors- in 444.1 IP he has walked 188 batters, an average of 3.8 BB/9 which is not good.
