*sigh* yes too much OBP. Its not the like our middle 3 hitters are nearly automatic outs. Hey, look at that OBP for them. It is in the tank as well.

Not that good since Oakland hasn’t been above league average in OBP for a few years.

But, when you look at the league leaders in runs, you’ll also see a tendancy to have high team OBP.

Hey how did that OBP work for A’s lately?
Getting on base is good but if you don’t drive in runners then it doesn’t mean squat!
I also saw that 1st game as a give away game by Terry and SA, who ham strung him with Batista, cause he has not looked good all year and that game just set the tempo for the whole evening.

I watch games even when they are losing but last night was so demoralizing, all the way around, cause Wright finally hits a bump while the rest of team is not hitting with RISP.

Yesterday was a black day for me, so far, this season.
I hope that next time there is a DH that Terry and SA can bring up pitcher for that game and not use Batista again who should be in AAA or released; his good days are back in 2001!

But Ike and Duda are killing this team right now. Our table setters (Tejada, Kirk and Murphy) are out RBI’ing our 3-4-5 “run producers” (Ike, Bay and Duda)

But hitting and driving in runs (AVG and RBIs) are not important.

OBP, OBP, OBP. That’s what’s it all about. Batting Average (being able to hit) is not important – as we see those guys say here everyday.

RBIs – ehh just a team dependent stat, not important – as we see them say here everyday.

It’s team dependent alright, depending on the guy at the PLATE! Who the hell cares who’s on base just drive them in so or even a productive OUT (gasp!)

The last action? You mean the athlete up at bat who is supposed to HIT? Not important as long as the team OBP keeps going up.

Who cares who’s up at bat with the game in their hands because we have guys on base and the guys on base, in today’s philosophy, that’s more important.

Positives: Mr Tejada continues to play well. The pen pitched well (techically since Batista started) 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Thank you Hefner. Also Kirk had 2 hits.

Game 2 hoping for a split.
