Yes he did help them during the winning streak…sigh…..time to REPEAT A POST, people:

- Friday April 23, 2 for 4, 1 run scored in 5-2 victory over Braves
- Sat April 24, 0 for 2, walked twice and scored a run in a 3-1 Mets win
- April 25 he went 1 for 3 and scored the only run in 1-0 Mets win
- Tuesday April 27, 1 for 4 in 4-0 win over LA in first game of doubleheader
- In the second game, 1 for 5 with 3 runs scored in 10-5 victory so even though he went 1 for 5 (bad OBP) he scored 3 runs

- April 28, 1 for 4, 1 run scored in 7-3 victory over LA
- April 30, 1 for 5, 1RBI in 9-0 win over Phils

So it looks like the he batted 3rd during 7 of the 8 game winning streak and during that time he had 27 ABs, 7 hits, 7 runs scored, 1 RBI, .259 AVG, and he walked a few times so i guess his OBP was 40 or 50 points higher. And I don’t know how many bases he stole to help build runs or how his defense was during this time.

So he didn’t do as bad as you tried to make it to be during the winning streak. As usual your number lie and don’t tell the real story, but that’s what you are.

People who generally demand an argument be over are the ones who are embarrassed for having lost it. Everyone read what you said about how hitting Reyes third brought on a winning streak, which was defeated the very first post I made, and you kept trying to dig yourself out and only managed to dig yourself deeper. If you want this to be over, that’s cool with me, because my point’s been made many times over and very strongly.

Anyone who remembers and/or watched that stretch of games knows how bad Reyes was during it. You can give all the numbers you want, but if you saw it, you know there was a reason it only lasted 20 games, and even you admit it shouldn’t have gone on even that long. So stop talking yourself in circles, stop trying to credit him with any kind of success just because your mad at Sandy for letting him walk. You’re agenda is transparent.

Like 7 or 8 games is not a good sample size and the more you try to downplay my baseball knowledge the more you come across as a sulking fool. You try to do it everytime and every time you come off as the JACK*SS that you are.

He’s a leadoff hitter but experimenting is nothing new to the game and 7 or 8 games is a small sample size to boot. Go somewhere and eat your frustrations away with another giant sandwich since you’re a pig.

I know what type of player he is and he’s not a 3-hole hitter because that could have caused him to try and make adjustments to become a type of hitter he is not. He’s a leadoff hitter but I had no problem with Manuel trying to experiment for a bit. He just let it go on too long.

Right, the pitching won those games, so don’t come off like moving him third got him going, like it was a smart move. It was an awful move that stunted his offense. You just come off like a marginal-knowledge fan who thinks that some sort of change that coincided with a win streak was the cause of the streak when that couldn’t be further from the truth. Anyone who watched at all saw what happened and trying to decieve people to make them think otherwise is so transparent.

Well then they would have won whether he hit 3rd, 1st, or 9th. They won while he was batting 3rd, case closed, and I and most people on this site know what type of player Reyes is so your little remark makes you look like the deceitful court jester that you are.

As I said earlier even though u refused to acknowledge it, is that of course he’s a top of the order guy but it’s not unusual for managers to do things like this when they are trying to get guys going

They won 8 in a row because the pitching gave up 12 runs in those 8 games. Reyes hitting third that year hit .207/.253/.280. It was a terrible idea to those who know what kind of player Reyes is.

People forget that when Manuel experimented with Reyes hitting 3rd the team went on a 8 or 9 game winning streak. I had no problem with it the only thing was that Manuel went to long with it but unusual moves like that to try and get guys going is nothing new so I’ll never understand the fans going completely nuts about it, of course Reyes is a top of the order guy but it wasn’t that crazy a thing to do for a little while.

That’s a good name too. lol. I’ve learned that Acosta seems to always pour gas on the fire whenever he gets called into a game like that. He can be so good at times but if he gets called into a game when another reliever is getting shelled, he’ll never get you out of that inning without a total implosion. Hopefully TC recognizes that and goes with another option there.
