Why don’t the Mets fire Terry Collins and Sandy Alderson and hire you to do both jobs.

I NEVER said Sandy was a genius so I don’t know where you are getting that from. All I have said is he is a highly respected front office guy.

Now that being said, did you see me throwing Omar off a bridge after 2008? I was making excuses for him most likely to YOU. LOL. As for creating a winner, you can’t compare the issues that Sandy faced when he got here to what Omar faced when he arrived. Omar arrived at a time when the organization was ready to build around Jose and Wright and spend a ton of cash. Sandy arrived when the organization was moving away from those two and slashing payroll. How much of it is Sandy and how much the Wilpons? We still don’t know just like we didn’t know how much was Omar and how much was the Wilpons.

Ultimately I knew when Sandy arrived this was not going to be a quick process and I expected it to take a few years to fix the issues. At the end of those 3 years though I am very interested where we will be.

Is that Sandy’s fault? I bet in 2009 under Omar the Mets had that payroll too…. LOL. I think that next year’s payroll might be an indication of where we go from here. But then again, maybe not. What if Ike and Duda do come around and the young pitchers are ready? What are they going to spend the money on? Like I have said from the beginning if the Mets are still this bad at the end of next year then I will be there holding your pike while you cut off Sandy’s head.

I’m not Ike. I can only speak for myself. But, I wouldn’t want DW to speak up for me. He’s not a little boy who needs his daddy to intervene. He’s not a newby to baseball that he doesn’t know where his behavior will take him. If he were fined, so be it. Maybe he won’t do it next time.

I thought it kind of pitiful to see David talking to the ump on Ike’s behalf. And, guys, we don’t really know if that is what he was doing. That was Keith’s assumption and Keith has some daddy issues.

Wright looks to be in a tailspin. Keith mentioned his upper cut swing several times last night. What the Hell, DW! Stick with what works.

I do think Wright’s a leader, but I also value his performance more than his clubhouse diplomacy.

Davis is so bad that he’s making Bay look like an All-Star.

I think he is a leader because of who is in the clubhouse just as much as his performance. The young players are going to look to him for guidance. Why is this some sort of bad thing?

Again, you are letting your biases cloud the issue. Once Delgado left Wright took on more of a leadership role and now that Beltran is gone he has taken the leadership role completely. That’s what veteran players do. That’s not a knock on Wright, it wasn’t his clubhouse when those guys were there and shouldn’t have been. Now, like it or not it is. Also, it doesn’t matter what you or I think, the players will decide if Wright is a leader or not and it’s clear they view him as such and voice that opinion. That’s what other teams players see as well and why you get comments from guys like Chipper on the fact. Again, this is not about hate or love. It’s just the fact that this team’s leader is Wright, you can hate him, talk about how much he chokes and pick apart every thing you want, do you think that is changing the fact that he is viewed by the players in the clubhouse as a leader on the team?

So, he finally decided to be a leader of the team when there’s noone around and the team most likely will suck the entire year? is that what you’re saying? he’s showing leadership now by talking to an umpire for striking out davis? what exactly is he doing that you or anyone else can tell me for me to feel like Yeah, he is showing leadership?? WTF is that?? talking to an ump about a bad call is showing leadership? well, you can take THAT kind of leadership, wrap it around real nice, and straight shove it… I want him to show ME and everyone else leadership by driving runs, by being clutch and not folding in big spots, Member yesterday? men on 2nd and 3rd? 1 out? Mota pitching?? Dwright as usual, strikes out… That’s when he needed to show leadership…

You lead by performance not words and the man has reverted back to his same old self, mini hot streaks followed by plenty of ABs where he fails with runners in scoring position.

Two things here.
First I agree placing a C on his chest is pointless and is only a fan ploy. Like the players are going to say “Well he’s the captain now, better listen to him”. They already know he is a leader on the team and they say as much every chance they get. They don’t give a damn if he is named a captain or not and honestly neither would Wright.

Second you are still avoiding the question. Was Wright being and has he been a leader on this team? You can like him or dislike him. That is not going to change the way he is viewed by his teammates or what he does in that role. It’s clear that he and the players both view him as a leader and your bias isn’t going to change that.

Meh, I don’t see the point. I like Wright and hope he does fspend his entire career as a Met, but the whole captain thing is just marketing.

The people who matter already know whether or not he’s the captain. The players either do or don’t look to him. Putting a C on his chest will have no effect on that.
