I agree this was a total team disgrace, batting practice in that inning, seems like all pitchers were just throwing (can’t do that in that HR band box, humidor or not) not pitching, they should all be embarrassed.

Can’t blame Thole on that one, batter stepped over the plate and hit his glove, what is Thole to do, just hope that next time the pitch out is outside the batter’s box not in it.

This place is a joke as shown by all these Rox hitters being clueless on the road.

I see that tonight Hairston returned to form.

Lutz is a RH pinch hitter, part time 3b or LF; rather see Turner over there.

Turn the page, that’s what makes baseball my favorite sport.

I agree K Maxx. TC managed that game like he didn’t give a flying shit. Nobody warming up as Acosta gets totally smoked when the game was still a game and it was only the 5th inning. Nobody warming up until the 10th run of the inning scored. I guess we know why TC couldn’t get a managing job for over a decade. I wonder if he’ll cry if we happen to win 81 games this year the way he cried over 77 last year. He does manage to get his team to play hard even though that’s their job so I guess he deserves credit for something.

Wow what a game and not in the good way.

I had this feeling the Mets offense may need to win this one and to their credit they did score 9 runs even with Murphy going 0 for 5 but the problem was the Rockies scored more than that in just 1 inning.

There is just not much that can be said about yesterdays pitching say other than Batista and Byrdak who seemed to avert the landmines. 6 errors 4 of which came in that nightmarish 5th inning. The saying when it rains it pours comes to mind for that inning.

So Lutz at 1st went well (*sarcasm). In his fairness the kid is a 3b I believe.

Positives obviously has to be Hairston hitting for the cycle but also Mr Tejada with his 4 for 6 2 run effort.

All they can do is put it behind them and move on. Gee on the hill and Ike is manning 1st (at least I hope) tonight.

This game was a disgrace and I wish I could have my Friday night back. I cant believe I wasted the night watching this joke of a team look like the complete laughing stocks of baseball. Terry Collins has no clue in managing a game or knowing when to take a pitcher in or out. He says he left Schwinden in to give the bullpen a rest, Bullshit you play for the win today! Our record should be much worse than it is, credit a few lucky late inning wins from Collins having his ass in a sling.

well, still only 1 loss thank goodness.

and only 3 teams yesterday scored more runs than the Mets!

Just one of those days to forget about and move on.

Better than being the Phils, who lost big to the Cubs, with Paul Maholm starting (with an ERA north of 7 I believe). Still only 1 loss though.

I saw him pitch in St. Louis last year and I thought he was pretty decent. I don’t think he’s consistent yet, but I wouldn’t say he was horrible.

I can’t even remember who was on the mound for that called pitch out, but that catcher’s interference was not on Thole this time, IMO. Pitch ous should be thrown to the left shoulder high. That ball just fell out and broke almost at the ground almost at the plate. Thole had to lean in to even trap it so he got charged. He’s lucky the bat didn’t break his hand when the batter swung.

Acosta was good at aaa ball also.Him and Schwinden groove too may pitches for home runs..Since we have no many to spend on real pitchers, I guess we should get used to some games like this one now and than.Nice job by Hairston on hitting for cycle.

He didn’t suck last year when he came up, he pitched reasonably well. And you don’t simply throw away a pitching commodity based on a ridiculously small sample size. Schwinden has been a very good pitcher at AAA. His manager the last two seasons in the minors was Wally Backman. This is what Wally said to me about Schwinden earlier this week:

“he knows how to pitch, he’s another guy that’s gonna be in the big leagues.”

Sorry Russell, but I trust Wally’s opinion a lot more than I do yours.

Mets Blog needs to change their two error commited by Murpy to one. Box score shows error charged to catcher Nickeus for thowing too high to Murphy. Booth said Murphy error but changed to Catcher by scorer.
