Coaches, Players To Wear Gary Carter’s No. 8 Jersey Today

The Mets just shared a photo of what the players will see when to get to their lockers this morning. The whole team will be wearing these blue Gary Carter jerseys to honor “The Kid” today during batting practice.

What a great sight this will be.

I’m looking forward to seeing all the festivities and everything else the Mets have planned as they dedicate this first game of the season to Gary.

This is outstanding. Michael Baron suggested this earlier in the offseason but I doubted the Mets would do something so significant. How awesome is this?!

Awesome…now I kinda wish I went to opening day. I wish they would adopt a solid blue jersey and get rid of those awful black jerseys. Mets colors are blue an orange…period.

  That actually makes sense. I was surprised that MLB would have let them do this for a real game (considering how anal they are about uniforms in general). that, and the blue ones are warm up jerseys, right?
