As of this post, Vaughn has 5 HRs already (leading the team and tied for 4th in Class A), has a .539 SLG (don’t be surprised if it goes up anytime soon), and hitting .276. He’s showing his power already.

2 things I want to see improve from Vaughn 1 – first and foremost his power especially HRs 2 – his batting avg. I also wonder how he is as a run producer.

Forget hit OBP because that’s not gonna make him the major leaguer he should be, his power is and it took awhile for him to show his power after he was promoted last year if you remember. So to hell with his OBP but if he’s hitting and hitting for power he’ll be fine because he takes a mean, mean hack.

no, he was corrct, that is what I meant. He has the pitches pretty much down, now just needs to dial in the control and fine tune. How long that takes remains to be seen, but from a development standpoint, he is getting really close.

Vaughn is more than capable of sustaining it. Remember, this is the same man who had an OBP of near .500 for a good while until he got hurt last season. He has a world of talent, and if you ask me, he should be on his way to Binghamton at least by Memorial Day.

Wheeler has to work on command, both of his fastball and especially his curveball. He also must refine his change-up before he will be ready for prime time. That should take this year and half of next. I look for him to emerge at sometime during the 2013 season to be a factor in Queens.

I think he means in terms of things other than building arm strength and working on control. In other words he may be closer than we thought originally….
Oh god forbid, Wheeler might be a decent pitcher who is further along than we thought. Sound up the anti-Sandy band.

I think he will be in the Harvey-Familia position to start next season and will be a topic of conversation by the ASB of 2013.

Vaughn looks like he wants to earn himself a promotion to Bingo before too long. Keep this up and it will happen. Always nice to see when a talented guy seems to be putting it all together. Now hopefully he can sustain it.

not seeing it until next year (I don’t think he has to go on to the 40 man this off season), but if he keeps this up, has to be in the mix to challenge for a job out of ST.

Zack Wheeler earned his first career AA win after going 5.2 innings and giving up just 1 run on 2 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 6. Wheeler’s is rocking a 1.75 ERA after a month. !!!! Go Wheeler.
