Wright To Start At Third Base Against Cards Today
Good news everyone… David Wright will be starting at third base this afternoon when the Mets take on the Cardinals in Jupiter, Florida at 1:00 PM,
“I’m going to make sure I’m still allowed to go,” Wright said shortly before 8 a.m., as he headed to the trainer’s room. “I’m planning on it.”
This would mark Wright’s first Grapefruit League game of the spring. Yesterday aftre batting practice he told reporters he felt great and manager Terry Collins hinted that there was a good chance Wright would play today or Tuesday at the latest.
Wright has been sidelined by an abdominal muscle tear he suffered early in camp.
It looks like a few players are starting to get healthier just in time as Scott Hairston has also been making progress, and now it appears Tim Byrdak will only miss the first series of the season.
Here’s the lineup for this afternoon’s game against the Cardinals:
1. Ruben Tejada SS
2. Daniel Murphy 2B
3. David Wright 3B
4. Lucas Duda RF
5. Justin Turner 1B
6. Mike Baxter LF
7. Josh Thole C
8. Matt den Dekker CF
9. Johan Santana P

Allright, seemed everyone is getting healthy at the right time… Welcome back #5, and take it easy with those swings, don’t over do it, it’s only ST…
Good to see him back, and hopefully the game is televised today. I was getting a little concerned about him to be honest. Also, never in a million years did I think Johan Santana would be our opening day starter and looks like he’ll be just that. The Mets need these two.
the last 2 weeks is really when ST starts to “count” for th eposition players. If they normal team can pretty much play together every day, plenty of time to get into regular season shape.
Only Torres is missing now (unless Bay is out for a while). But at least the infield is together, and that is the most important aspect.
but man, they are running out of OFs.
Glad to see this report.
Welcome back #5 now try and stay healthy.
