We can ‘What if’ all we want. It doesn’t change the past so let’s just look forward to 2012 and hope everyone stays healthy and the team surprises a lot of people.

I agree that Ike would have been up soon anyway. maybe Murphy would have taken over at 2B at that point, and if that had happened (and he did not have the follow up injury), then it is quite possible he would be entrenched at 2B at this point. Unless, of course, he played his way off it!

but your general point is true. 1 ill-timed injury can set a whole lot of dominos in motion.

I don’t think anything would have changed, just delayed. Ike was already raking in the minors. Another two or three months of that along with the complete ineptitude of Castillo would have forced Omar bring up Ike and slide Murphy over the second, anyhow. The most significant change would only have been Ike’s Super Two status.
