Yea that’s my fault. I should of phrased my reply better. When I said quote I should of used remark in it’s place but I figured it wasn’t that big a deal worth a correction unless Peter brought it up. Even now I am only commenting to diffuse any further comments this comment of mine may get. You are correct though Kay Peter never said Cerrone said I’m actually there” Peter remarked it which I still don’t get the point in saying this but whatever.

To clarify Matt Cerrone DID NOT say “I’m actually there”, the poster that mentioned that Cerrone said Santana looks soft said Cerrone was there – HUGE difference, sorry to bust the conspiracy theory though. Geez

Comments like that is the reason why even though he’s a NOBODY matt cerrone is dislike by many people, “I’m actually there” as if that carries any weights or something, FDB…

I am not sure I get what is the point of the “He’s actually there.” quote but in any case I will put more stock from direct quotes from Santana himself rather than Cerrone. That being said I would also be surprised if Santana is ready by Opening Day.

You can’t go by any fan’s opinion, just because they happen to be down there.

That being said, I never thought Johan would be ready by opening day. Won’t surprise me at all if he gets left behind for further rehab.

Well for one, not sure I care if Cerrone thinks Johan looks soft and two he did not say he will not be ready. He just said he is not sold on the fact that he will be. At this point are ANY of us sold he will be?

It’s still very early in the process but with quotes like “I was able to throw my fastball, I was able to throw my changeup. It was good.” and “I’m not worried about velocity I’m not worried about hitters. I’m worried about feeling good.” from Santana after today’s session. It’s all one can ask for right now

Not sure if this makes a difference since Santana and Wang’s problems were in their shoulder but the one thing I thought about with Santana’s rehab is that he throws a change up about 25-30% of the time and the slider less often than Wang does That has to cause less damage overall and might speed up his recovery a little faster than Wang’s.

All injuries are different and I have no way of knowing whether this is even relevant but it’s at least something we can hang our hat on. Maybe.

except this injury has no real timetable (very individual), and remember, Johan pitched in real games (in the minors) last year. So he really should be at this point now.

It’s not like he is in direct competition with Wang to get back before Wang did Des. He is pitching at a pace he, his doctors and trainers feel is best for him. You have to trust they have put much more thought into this based on all the medical reports throughout Santana’s rehab up to now than trying to set a pace based on what Wang has gone through.

Well if he gets hurt before the season starts there goes the ticket sales!
But maybe it’s not so bad to push him a bit now, Better to have him blow it out in ST than baby him and have it happen during the season when there are fewer options to replace him I guess!

It’s not the spring and early season where the worry is, it’s in August and September after he has quite a few starts that will be the problem,
early the main issue will be can he get someone out not if he can last!
If he can get someone out then you can work around the rest thing.
But if he cant we got bigger problems than Santana’s ability to stay healthy!
