well, technically he isn’t the 5th starter (more like 4th), but even so, he still wouldn’t be the highest paid 5th SP.

This schelp had his one good game, that means his next ten will be flops. How the Mets offered him a penny over $1 million still boggles my mind. I could even see $2 million, but $5.6 million? For a GM who complains he has no money, he sure didnt mind overpaying and having the highest paid 5th starter in the game. If we had cut him, guaranteed no team would have given Pelfrey more than $2 million! Pitchers that are better than him got less.

Sorry Stick but the ONLY division I think the Mets would be able to hang around in is the NL Central. None of the AL teams and I think even the NL West would be tough.

someone on the broadcast (I had it up on MLB.tv for a while) mentioned that they lost 106 last year, and the way this year is shaping up, they might lose more than that.

and last place is only relative to your division. The Mets would be division crown contenders in a couple of the patsy divisions.

Someone posted the #s for the Tigers earlier. I think they were something like 50-22 against the 4 horrid teams in their division, and .500 against every other team.

I think they finish better than the Astros and Padres and will battle the Cubs, Pirates, and a surprise team here or there for the next tier.

so far, this ST is eerily similar to 2010 for big Poof. Horrid up until a very good last start. Everyone in a panic. Then he came out with his best stretch of pitching in the 1st 1/2 of 2010.

So, just hope the parallels continue into the regular season!
