Since the NL has 2 more teams, they have a total of 324 more games played. So if you total each year the AL’s W/L will equal 2268 and the NL’s W/L will equal 2592.

2268+2592/30=162

jessep got the AL totals correct and you correctly identified which needs needed the extra 8 games.

I think you’ve done a good job, Jessep. Maybe I can help it be a bit better. The records show Cincinnati and Milwaukee playing a total of only 158 games each. Shouldn’t it be 162?
Also, in every baseball game (except ties which you didn’t consider) there is a winner and a loser. So the total W and total L should be the same. You have the American League with an oveall +16 record and the National League with an overall +4 record. So in total there is an overall +20 record. It should be zero. (+0 of -0)
