So, you say it is a paper dedicated specifically to covering business events in Miami. That actually would explain why it i just them and not the other major publications. The others probably saw a bunch of business men glad handing over breakfast as not really newsworthy.

For a paper dedicated to local business, however, it is something they should be covering.

Did find that quite interesting about the Las Vegas stadium situation and understand that it’s just like the Vegas shows which, in itself, are not real money makers but does the jobs of drawing in the patrons. I can see the same principles applying on a bigger scale with that stadium and not in terms of a sports franchise as much as concerts which due to the large capacity would draw even more visitors into Vegas and be actual money makers by packing them into the likes of Springsteen, Pearl Jam, the Stones and Joey D. doing karaoke.

Well They would just write an apology on page 52 for what they said on page one and fire the Reporter if this turns out to be a bogus thing.

Very hard for someone (especially the press) to get sued for Libel!

I’m talking about not fabricating the statements but indeed taking them out of context and twisting them around to make a juicy story.

But if Miami Today is sued for libel, both the journalist and publisher have little to fear for I’ll suggest to them that they hire you to take their case. And, if they are already represented by legal counsel, I’ll simply call up the Miami Marlins to let them know that you’re available as well.

Either way, I want ten percent of your fee as your agent!

Samson says that the comments about “we’ll have all the money” was about Vegas, not Miami. The article does not address Reyes or calling the taxpayers stupid. The Vegas comment makes more sense…but he’s still an idiot.

What is being overlooked is the possibility that the story, though factual, could also be guilty of omission, perhaps for sensationalism. He could have an irreverent sense of humor and doesn’t have enough sense to know when and when not to use it – that humor targeted toward the SEC investigation and the outrageous contract he has been openly criticized about (like Alderson with that ill-advised sending chocolates comment). Was the audience laughing? Did they gasp in disbelief? Did he couple his jokes with more serious statements about both subjects.

We might find out more as both sides become more open about the story and the events surrounding it.

I just find it odd that a paper who is only 10-12 years old would report this and no other press would be invited!
