What Will The 2015 All Star Lineups Look Like?
I stumbled upon this on Baseball America during their Prospect Chat the other day. Jim Callis was asked by a reader:
What will the 2015 All Star lineups look like?
I’ll attack this question from the perspective of who will deserve to be in starting lineups for the 2015 All-Star Game, rather than trying to determine whether 41-year-old Derek Jeter wins the popular vote. Here goes:
National League
CA: Buster Posey
1B: Joey Votto
2B: Cory Spangenberg
3B: Anthony Rendon
SS: Troy Tulowitzki
OF: Matt Kemp
OF: Mike Stanton
OF: Justin Upton
DH: Bryce Harper
SP: Clayton Kershaw
American League
CA: Carlos Santana
1B: Jesus Montero
2B: Dustin Ackley
3B: Brett Lawrie
SS: Jurickson Profar
OF: Jacoby Ellsbury
OF: Desmond Jennings
OF: Mike Trout
DH: Miguel Cabrera
SP: Felix Hernandez
No Mets made the list, but I would imagine that Ike Davis could squeeze in here if things break right. Maybe one of the big three pitching prospects as well?

Well, I would agree that Votto should start over Davis, but if Ike stays status quo, he should be an All-Star for years to come even if in a reserve role.
Duda has to be in the OF. Has to be.
and Pencil in Havens for 2B too, since I have no clue who Spangenberg is.
Zimmerman is going to be barely 30 by that point. He could still be cemented as the Nats 3B.
Right, this reads much more as a best of under 28 year old than it does All-star performance. Older players can still perform at elite levels.
It will be Ike at 1B because Votto will be in the AL by then, worst case with the Dodgers. I can’t see any scenario (unless the Reds go off and are able to increase revenue by 20M) that they keep him. He’s gonna command at least an Adrian Gonzalez deal and that would make up 25% of the Reds payroll.
Also that list in the AL is laughable IMO. 2015 is not light years away.
Duda needs a lot of improving before he can be considered an All-Star. To get past his defense, he’d need to have 15-20 yacks by June and be hitting at least .270. Not impossible, but I can’t say he HAS to be.
Eh, you are missing Stick/any’s love for his man Duda. He’s not exactly rational when it comes to Duhhhhhhhhdddddaaaaa.
you are just still mad that you scoffed when I touted him originally.
Big year coming this year. I guarantttteeeeeee it.
Not mad at all, so far we have yet to see if his offense will out weigh his in ability to play defense. I sure hope you are right, but when you set expectations of 50HR lol…
well, by 2015 he will be making a run at 50 jacks, so should not be a problem!
If Dudau ever hits 50 yacks in a season, I’ll buy you a sandwich.
Same bet goes for Duda.
Might still make team
I ment;
Ike would still make team as reserve or could start if things go right.
Damn, did not know craig lerner can predict the future.. hey, will your lord sandy alderson post a winning record???
LOL….I can’t even predict who will be on the 2012 AS team, let alone 2015.
Fun to speculate, I suppose.
I can’t predict what I’m going to eat for breakfast for tomorrow…
I like that you did this, but I’m curious if you’re counting on Pujols, Verlander, Lincecum, Fielder, Reyes, Han-Ram, Halladay, etc. to all be retired/finished in 3 years, or if this is just a “Futures” list? I agree with not trying to guess on a 41-year-old Jeter, but Pujols will be 35, Fielder will be 31, Verlander will be 32, Lincecum will be 31, etc. and I’d doubt that ALL of the current All-Star/MVP caliber players will be retired or above-average by 2015. So, again, I’m curious if this is more of an All-Star Watch List then a projected 2015 lineup?
Agreed.
Yankee fans will still get Jeter to start the all star game in 2015
OT.
Someone asks Ruben in his chat this afternoon ‘Anybody in camp appear out of shape?’
His one word answer: yes.
Oh boy…..
Who could it be? Hmm let’s see how does it go again Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy?
LOL…someone followed up on that question:
‘Does your journalistic integrity preclude naming said players who are “out-of-shape” at camp this year?’
Rubin: ‘Not journalistic integrity. There’s no one obese. A few guys can afford to lose a few pounds. And they will.’
I don’t think it would surprise anyone to find that Santana or Ike or Murphy put o na little winter weight seeing as to how they spent a good portion of their offseason recovering from surgeries and/or injury.
Agreed.
I’m glad someone followed up with that question. His first one word answer of ‘yes’ made it sound like a bigger problem then his follow up answer did.
By the way SRT it looks like Oswalt will take the Roger Clemens route and be ready for a in season call by some team in need.
O.K., not for nothing Roy but The Rocket you ain’t….
Not a doubt in my mind though that Philly wouldn’t pick him up if there’s a need.
This from his agent SRT.
JimBowdenESPNxm:
Bob Garber agent for Oswalt “Roy has every intention of pitching for a contending club at some point this season”

So I guess we can expect the Mets to come calling at some point this season?
hahahaha – sure, come mid season when we’re leading the wild card and we need a pitcher I’m sure we’ll be in touch with Oswalt’s agent.
In Rich Coutinoh’s defense, he has been subsiding on Garden hotdogs and beer the last few weeks.
Holy crap the NL is stacked, NL wins 10-3. Lock it up!
