Disclaimer: Before I begin, I'd like to say RIP Whitney Houston :'( One of the greatest voices of our time has left this world. I know this is a "Mets site", but it saddens me to see yet ANOTHER great talent be another casualty of drugs. Lost WAY too many of them over the last 50 years. Haven't been this shaken up about someone's death since MJ passed.

Without further ado...

@Xtreem: Thanks bro.

@Bayonne: Well, if it isn't my old friend Randall. Good to see you respond to me so quickly like I expected. Sorry I didn't reply so soon but you know, I have things to do on my Saturday nights...something you can never say. Now then, you say my classic trade proposals are a good laugh? Come now. I'm gonna give you the floor. You are the king of comedy around here. After all, you are the one who...

-wanted 17 game LOSER Kevin Millwood in the Mets rotation
-thinks Steve Phillips is the greatest Mets GM ever (Cashen>>>>Phillips)
-Anyone that was part of the 99-00 Mets, even if he was nothing significant like say, Jason Tyner, was such a key player (LOL)
-wants/thinks that Jorge Cantu would be better than David Wright as our 3rd baseman, even though Cantu is defensively terrible at EVERY infield position he ever played. Is he even employed?

The fact that you are labeled a "true mets fan" is an insult to real fans like yourstruly. It saddens me that you are still a sad little man living in a shithole state that's only a bigger douche/joke of a Mets fan as your governor. Isn't being the biggest laughingstock in the entire Mets blogoshere bad enough? You make yourself out to be a horses's ass the more
you post? Why don't you just go on Twitter and curse out beat writers and fans who don't have the same 10 cent brain you do? Even better, how about you get out of the house for a change? Run along. Shoo.

I must have missed when Sandy tried to trade David Wright for Jose Cruz, Jr. Or had sexual harrassment allegations against him. Or a problem with pot in the clubhouse. Or open hostility against his manager.

So those are acceptable, but a couple of jokes in a Twitter account draw your ire?

I sure do love revisionist history.

Well if that's true then why do you spend every day saying the same thing about how much hate you have for this GM and are hoping they fail. You are the epitome of second guessing (something you call others out for), you haven't seen one pitch, but you know how bad these players are going to be that he acquires.

You and your small like clique of school girls hate SA more then you like being a NY Mets fan - which makes you the worst kind of fan, not a true fan.

Steve Phillips? 'nuff said.........hahahahahahah

His success was based on what previous GM's had provided both for trades and for the Mets and other than salary dumps (which apparently you don't consider to be trades) and prospects for marginal or washed up retreads he had nothing.

He inherited Ordonez, Alfonzo, Agbayani, Hundley, Carl Everett, Mora, Rick Reed, Bobby Jones, Isringhausen, Payton, Preston Wilson, AJ Burnett, Lance Johnson, Bernard Gilkey, John Olerud, Endy Chavez, Dan Wheeler, Todd Pratt, Heath Bell, Alex Escobar, Terrence Long, Octavio Dotel, Corey Lydle, plenty of useful players and prospects as well as Bobby Valentine.

He also inherited a 38 M dollar payroll (16th) and a team already on pace to win 88 games.

He made a couple of salary dump type trades with Florida and Houston, traded away a whole boatload of prospects, signed a whole bunch of free agents and rode the work of others till it crested 2 1/2 years after he he arrived and facilitated it's southern migration over the next 3 years, 82-80, 75-86, 66-95 by stripping the farm of everything worthwhile in order to acheive those results. Had he been here any longer is there any doubt Reyes and Wright would have been shipped out as well after all there are numerous reports about both them being offered around.

Basically he was successful at the things that the Media goes gaga about like the free agent and the salary dump deal or the boatload of prospect deal but they never consider the downside and either does the media influenced fan.

Those are the easiest deals to pull off and don't take any creative skills to do so. They are first and foremost dependent on the owners wallet as is the draft (the special skill set) in which 15 out of 17 1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks were busts under Phillips unless you consider Heilman (1st round # 18) a hit. Then it's 3 out of 17. Even Kazmir could be a question mark with Swisher, Hamels, Cain and Guthrie on the table, speaking of which Phillips didn't even bother to sign some of Mcilvaine's last draft class when he took over including Guthrie, Atkins and David De Jesus.

he was also the farm director when it was decided to be a good idea for Generation K to put 200 innings on their arms in the minors.

Regardless the Mets peaked 2 1/2 years after he took over, too short a time for a GM to have a major impact in acquiring and developing his own impact players without the benefit of the owners checkbook and with useful pieces already in place and useful prospects in the farm and room to significantly grow the payroll he did the things that are easy to do. The harder things he wasn't able to do so when he ran out of prospects he had to start trading the free agents he signed and that led to Curly, Moe and Larry and 95 losses that Duquette had to clean up.

There is no reason to suggest that any GM given the same conditions couldn't have done what Phillips did do well and there is every reason to think that just about every GM would have been able to do a better job at the things he wasn't didn't do well.

he'll make jokes and all kinds of funnies just like his brethren over at Disgraceful Avenue thinking all Mets fans will have time to yuk it up while the team is being swallowed up in quick sand and part of the reason for that is his AWFUL leadership/moves/lack of regard for fan enthusiasm since he was hired.

Maybe Sandy and his saber buddies will yuk it up with one-liners and mean-spirited graphics but the rest of us won't be laughing at all. Sure I'll laugh at things but it will be away from Mets baseball - the rest of you moneyball and saber worker bees can yuk it up while watching the Mets.

I can't wait to see how funny he is when the Mets are 15 games back in mid May and you can hear the crickets croaking in Shea 2!
