The #1 question for the Mets is getting a GM in that knows how to build a winning team. 6 straight losing seasons as GM and counting. The game has passed him by, also #totallyclassless.

Top 5 Issues:
1. what Met player will get on base and score 90+ runs?
2. downgraded up the middle defensively
catcher- Thole 2nd base- Murphy shortstop- Tejada Center field- Torres
3. #4 and #5 starting pitchers ???? Not good.
4. #6,7,8 in the lineup have no hx. of production
5. management is not trying to field a contending team.

Your five issues are very insightful but I would like to add my five as a Mets fan. I won’t overlap yours.

1. Who will be our lead off hitter now that Reyes is gone?

2. Will Pelfrey bomb?

3. Will Duda blossom in right field and at the plate.

4. Will Ike Davis make the all star team as the league’s premier first baseman.

5. Will Josh Thole submit himself as our permanent catcher for the future.

I interpreted the Wright reference to mean that the mets being out of the race would not mean he would get traded. Certainly if they are actually in it he won’t be going anywhere.

They wont draw 2 million, Wright will be traded, Bay will not bounce back, they will lose their court case, and we’ll soon find out if we’ll get anything out of Johan.

I do agree these ARE the biggest five issues!

Pretty much agree…I’ll add my #6 and #7.

#6. Health! Between Santana, Bay, Murph, Wright, Niese, Ike and even Torres (and Nieuwenhuis and Havens in the minors) We got a lot of key players whose production has been slowed because of injuries.

#7. Progress! Duda, Thole, Tejada, Gee, Pelf and Niese all have to show progress in their development. All show promise, but they need to take steps forward to show that are true MLB players and not AAAA players.

Both these issues need to work out because there is still a huge depth problem with this team. They have the potential to be decent and surprise people, but it’s a fine line between being good and completely falling apart. It’s like we are playing a MLB version of KerPlunk and pulling one stick will make the whole thing fall apart.
