Wright Will Be The Most Compelling Storyline Of The 2012 Season

Brace yourselves for an avalanche of rants and raves on what the Mets should do with their once budding star third baseman. As Wright gets ready to embark upon his ninth season with the Mets, the questions and concerns are bountiful, but the answers are in very short supply. Chief among the biggest concerns are: 1. [...]

Darin Gorski: A Little Bit Of Confidence Can Go A Long Way
In this week’s mailbag, Anthony DiComo of Mets.com, fields a question about the prospect status of lefthander Darin Gorski. Why doesn’t anyone mention Darin Gorski as a top pitching prospect? His stats last year were exceptional. Two reasons. Firstly, Gorski produced those statistics (a 2.08 ERA, 140 strikeouts and 29 walks in 138 2/3 innings) as a 23-year-old in Class A ball. As mentioned above in the discussion of Duda, such success against mostly younger [...]

Mets No-Hitters That Got Away: Dwight Gooden
It’s now been 7,968 games for the Mets without a no-hitter. Fifty years of waiting for a Mets pitcher to toss that elusive no-no. We’ve had plenty of close calls in all those years, and some of them were pretty gut-wrenching (Damn you, Jimmy Qualls! ). Ironically, there has been no shortage of no-hitters tossed by “former” Mets pitchers. It’s baffling how many great Mets starting pitchers hurled their first no-no’s once they left the [...]

Mets Web-Dings: Ike Davis Is Ready To Make His Mark
Here is part of a great post by Michael Friere of Macks Mets who weighs in on Ike Davis: The Mets drafted Ike with the 18th overall pick, in the first round of the 2008 Major League Baseball draft out of Arizona State University. Advance billing on Ike was that he was a solid hitter, with decent amount of power and an excellent glove. Plus, Ike was left handed, which is considered advantageous for a [...]

Mets Leadoff Hitter, Is It Really A Debate?
Over at Mets Today Joe Janish tries to answer the question of who should be the Mets leadoff hitter now that Jose Reyes and Angel Pagan are gone. He looks at the players ability to get on base and their ability to maneuver around the base paths, and comes to the conclusion that the Mets might be best to go ths unconventional route and use Jason Bay because of the lack of other options. It is a very difficult question to answer and an even more compelling solution so [...]

MMO Fair or Foul: Boycotting The Mets In 2012
This ended up being a terrible weekend for me. What started as a routine doctor visit on Friday, ended up with me being admitted to the hospital for the umpteenth time in the last 3 years. So this is coming to you live from my hospital bed and via my Blackberry. So anyway, I read this post by Dave Searles of NJ.com yesterday morning on what has become a frequent topic of debate; boycotting the Mets. [...]

Why Are Players Avoiding The Mets Like The Plague?
Congratulations to the Super Bowl XLVI Champion, New York Giants! What a spectacular performance by Eli Manning and the rest of Big Blue. I’m going to relish this one for a long time. :-) * * * * * * So I just read the news that Rick Ankiel signed with the Washington Nationals and I wanted to quickly get something off my chest before I forget about it in the morning. Does anyone out there [...]
