As a Hitter yes, i think he has the potential to be a better hitter overall, but remember, darryl was a dynamic player, he could run too which helped his cause, given this stage and age of baseball ike has 30+ hr potential, same as darryl, but if darryl was to play in this era he’d be a 40+ hr guy with 80+ extra base hits per season. he was just that good of a player…

Ike Davis “Return of the Mooon Shot” sounds nice this season but he is no Darryl Strawberry. Darryl was faster, proven by his 30/30 achievement in the majors and thus was more of an athlete offensively than Ike. But as a pure slugger, Ike Davis will take that and in the end, Darryl and Ike will be two of the Mets’ greats. Lets hope the only “crack” associated with Ike, is the sound coming off of his bat. Hopefully he will be more than Straw. When they said Darrryl was the “Black Ted Williams” it made for high expectations. While Straw was a good Met, I always wondered what could have been had he not had personal difficulties and stayed a lifetime Met. I hope that Ike can surpass D.S.’ numbers maybe put up 400 + homers and 1,500 rbi’s and stay injury free. Then again it would be great if Capt Kirk, Ike, Duda, Muph, Tejada, Niese, Gee, Harvey, Familia, & Wheeler have productive long careers. Mets need some players to make the Hall of Fame.

Ike Davis will surpass Darryl as a hitter before all is said and done. I wish there was a Vegas line on it cuz i’d bet on Ike

Hoping too that the ankle is 100% as he claims, because if it is, I am looking forward to Ike and Duda hitting many bombs for the next 5 years or more.

i worry about Ike’s ankle. Truly hope he’s fully healed and doesn’t re-injure it. In fact, i am still dumbstruck, he lost a full Season because of it. Worries me. Otherwise, i think the kid has special talent both on D and hitting.
