What does that timeline have to do with Olerud being picked by the Mets and not signing with them. Dejesus,Williams, all those guys,yes they went to college because they couldn’t get the signing money from the Mets to entice them to play ball instead of going to school. Many teams have failed to sign their players because of the same reason and the ones who do pony up the bonuses are the ones that put a winning product on the field year after year.Give Matt Williams the money and you’ll see how fast that hatred of NY becomes I always wanted to be a Met bullshit story you get from athlets when they get paid. Last years draft we finally spent money on talent instead of drafting mostly college seniors with very little upside potential.We’ve had 3 chances at a WS in that time.3,it’s not like we make the playoffs every year and fall short.You act like we’ve had so many chances to win,We don’t, we’ve had more losing seasons than winning season. I’ll knock it off when you stop going on and on every single day about the same thing over and over.When you knock that off,I’ll never utter another word about the ineptitiude of our wonderful ownership.

So let’s just knock it off with these fantasy scenarios from 25 years ago. While we’re at it let’s look at the other major league clubs and see who they could have signed 25 years ago.

Let’s knock if off already. We had chances We LOST ON THE FIELD. All the kids now are from Omar Minaya’s regime and if he didn’t suffer through some of the worst periods of injuries this organization every had he would still be here seeing his minors coming to fruition and MAINTAINING competitiveness despite a couple of bad contract signings.

You show me were Roger Clemens didn’t sign with the Mets because Wilpon refused to pay 25K. Show me that, and with those other big names you mentioned as well. If all I have is your word on that than that is certainly not enough for me to believe that. According to what i found it was Bob Gibson who was not enamored with Clemens and the Mets weren’t the only ones. The Twins allegedly told Clemens nobody else would sign him if they didn’t:

Let’s deal with what DID happen. The Mets have had chances to have a very good history with several World Series titles and they LOST THE GAMES ON THE FIELD.

Add Olerud,Wetland,Scott Ericson and David Dejesus to that list. They didn’t sign over a measly 25-50K which is about the same as Wilpon renting a private jet for the day. The draftpicks were good it was failing to sign those picks over a small amount of money that would’ve had us avoid all those 90 loss seasons.As a 20 year season ticket holder you’re damn right I was pissed.

Again you’re totally missing the point. They drafted big time players and failed to sign them because Wilpon wouldn’t pony up. Roger Clemens didn’t sign because Fred refused to give him the extra 25K.Raffy Palmeiro,Darin Erstad,Matt Williams.The list goes on and on.We would’ve had a lot more than the 3 WS opportunities that we’ve had and probably even won a couple.That doesn’t bother you but this front office who’s trying to follow the same blueprint as Frank Cashen you kill daily with only a little more than a year on the job. To each is own.

That logic doesn’t work Fonzie,

i do not like the way the franchise is going forward and I do not trust the judgement of the current front office at all. That’s my opinion. I simply hate these new guys in charge and completely disagree with their philosophy and I also happen to think Sandy Alderson is making a lot of bad moves and wasting whatever little money he has by spending it wrong. I like him for about 2 weeks and since then I’ve disagreed with about almost everything he’s doing – as it happens. Not second guessing.

That’s not the same thing as looking back 25 years and making yourself miserable because we didn’t always have the best drafts when we DID have chances for glory regardless

So then you shouldn’t be pissed off here about every move being made or not made being mad every day since we’ve had opportunities to go to the WS a few times over the last 25 years. The point is,because of the way they’ve run their franchise our opportunities have been limited. We’ve had more opportunities to finish last then we’ve had to go to the WS.Those missed opportunities have nothing to do with the way they’ve run their franchise.

the reason i don’t get to pissed at that because the Mets have had opportunities to go to World Series several times already and I’m not gonna get upset about a college level kid that should have been signed 10 years ago.

If all those scenarious had favorable outcomes then we’re not too concerned about not signing a few kids 15 years ago.

Mets have had 4 chances to go to the “Superbowl” of baseball and they lost those games. I’m upset about that. Time to move on.

Sounds like a lot of sour grapes because we lost big games.

No not EVERY,I said MOSTLY all cheap signings.They have MOSTLY drafted players that were easy to sign with no other option but to take their money or not play pro ball.The more talented kid that had college commitments were bypassed because they wouldn’t pony up the cash to make that kid forego college and come sign with us. Instead of defending this you should be pissed at this like you are on a daily basis about the moves that are being made now. You want to know why our farm has only produced 3 big players in the last 20 plus years.That’s why.

Thanks guys really appreciate it! Logan was really funny, first we were going to do the interview by email, but that didn’t work. Then we decided to do it by phone. I called him and we had a really nice talk on the phone, but we didn’t do the interview. We decided he was going to write out his answers and email them to me so he could concentrate on the questions better. After two weeks though he was just too busy, so I sent him an email and said: phone? That was about a week ago. Then last night I’m sitting at my computer trying to decide what I want to write about and wham! There’s Logan’s responses! He did a great job with his answers I thought. And he’s a super nice guy. He’s very open and easy to talk to and was nice enough to make himself available to us again in the future. I am really looking forward to seeing what he does this year.
