  • HoJo, just for fun, can you post some of the more humorous and silly tweets you mentioned? Just for guffaws?

    • Sure thing, check back in a little bit.

      • Thanks. The Buddy one was a hoot.

  • I forgot all about this. Thanks for posting these HoJo.

  • Regarding the query about Santana’s velocity I would venture to guess that radar guns got cut out of the ST budget. Guessing the Mets are using Mr Met’s bullpen cart to race individual pitches to the plate to estimate velocity. Also guessing hiring a local off duty state trooper with a radar gun was too expensive as well! LOL LGM!!

  • LOL.
Saw a pic of Buddy. Looks exactly like my Golden only mine is female. So cute.

  • yep, Sandy answers some tweets – no good questions but everybody asks about his dog and if he has more funny tweets.

    You people deserve last place.

    • Actually, the questions about Capt Kirk and the prospects were pretty good. Not exactly sure what you were expecting of a twitter Q&A.

    • Dude, shut up.

  • Santana’s velocity isn’t important? That what makes that change up so effective for him. Not a good sign.

    • If only that’s what he said. He didn’t say that, but………go ahead twist and turn………

Bobby Parnell has incredible velocity, he’s not a good pitcher.

    • He didn’t say it wasn’t important. He said they aren’t tracking them this early in camp. Official workouts haven’t even started.

  • At this point, fans of this team should be asking themselves, if the GM does not care about winning or the team, why should we?
it’s a real tragedy what’s happening to the state of the team.. i still go to maybe 1 or 2 games (St louis and/or Marlins) this year but i am not thrill about what’s been happeining under this man’s watch … but hey, he tweets and love sabermetrics so.. he’d still have a legion of fans defending him no matter what he does, say or don’t.

    • You jumped to the bandwagon of a 72-90. I find that hysterical. All because of a guy mentioned in a book you’ll never read.

Some fan you are. Some of us are more interested in the name on the front of the jersey.

    • Please tell me what benefit it would be for a GM to not care about winning? It’s obvious that he wants to win but realizes that was not going to happen this year with the current resources. Obviously all GM’s WANT to win, hell who wants to do a bad job in any job? Even if Sandy’s job is to ultimately save the Mets for the Wilpons, winning is still an integral part of that. Not like his moves, like his moves. I don’t care but to say stuff like he does not want to win implies that he does want to lose? Makes no sense at all.

      • Keep drinking the kool aid, all he’s done is say things, he’s done NOTHING to help this franchsie improved, instead making it worse.. he took over and the team lost more games and is expected to lose even more this year.. good luck trying to convice the fans and players that “they’re better than people think”, if better he means they’ll win 70 games instead of the 69 projected then yeah, i guess he’s right (SMH)

        • No kool-aid here Alex, I have said over and over I am just giving him time to put his plan in place and if that plan fails I will jump all over him as well. I am not one going around saying he is doing a great job but because I am not negative all the time I am a kool-aid drinking skirt wearer with a blow up doll… LOL. Ah, middle school rhetoric.

You still dodged the question, what benefit would it be to Sandy to not care about winning? It’s just his time-table of winning does not match yours.

        • TRS, after the man was hired, i said fine, let’s see what he’s all about, then articles and comments started flyihg about the man genius plan within the first month, after getting terry colling and brad eamus, MORE articles started to pop up about how he was a savior blah blah blah, so after failing miserably the first offseason all blame was put on omar as the reason why this genius did a HORRENDOUS job, then everything he has said, not mentioning championships but salary made me realize he’s not here to win, he’s here to slash payroll to help the wilpons ride the waves, but no, instead people STILL claim he’s doing an excellent job, the way he handled the reyes debacle from the moment he stepped in til lthe moment he lost, it was as if he didn’t care losing a franchise player because it saved him money, and even making a snark remarks about him, for someone who is dub a genius one year should’ve been enough.. he lost the best player on the team and 2 days later acquire 2 middle relievers at a price noone else were gonna pay them and he STILL HAD A GOOD DAY… what kind of sh** is that??? just like david wright back in 2008 when he was being unclutch as hell but did no wrong in the eyes of their beloved, everything this man do cannot be wrong.. it’s utterly PATHETIC if you ask me..

          • You always base your opinion on someone after the results of how the media or other posters portrays them. One of the reasons, you admit, that you dislike Wright is because you feel Reyes was blamed and slighted. Now because some posters or media say something good about Alderson you go on some campaign of negativity. Alderson is not out saying he is a genius or god, in fact not many posters on here are saying that either. In fact there might be 2 people on here who say he is doing a great job, maybe 3 that say he is doing a good job, and maybe 3-5 that is saying he has done a terrible job. Most of the posters on here and most likely in Mets nation in general fall into my category. Saw some good moves, saw some bad moves, realize the current restrictions, realize the overall plan is 2013 and beyond and are waiting to see what happens.

All most of us on here are saying is we know where each of us stands, instead of turning every post into garbage, just relax and see ultimately in a few years who was right.

            • Alex is just not having a good week. He got on my case because I held Reyes to the same standard as I would any other star player who was out of his league when trying to outfox the front office staff and their supporting bean counters. Anyway I hope Reyes does well in Florida. He made his bed and he’ll have to sleep in it for a lot of nights.

            • I’m in your category. I am OK with some moves, not sure on others, but overall, try to keep in context of the restrictions they are working under.

I also still say that a big part of his mission was to rebuild the foundation of the organization 9bottom up) to support a sustained run once the team is on the upswing.

I was actually expecting (hoping for?) a lot more activity this off season 9trades flying, that type of stuff) to try and plug in some of the gaps (such as catcher), I was surprised to see the FO so quiet on that front. But, again, none of us really know how severe the restrictions they are working under are (FA wise). or what the reasoning is for essentially sanding pat again.

of course, we also don’t know how much they tried to do but were unable to do (such as MiL trades).

if nothing else, they are going to have to make a lot of moves before next season, since the 40 man is going to be a big problem if they continue to hang onto the prospects that are again out. Plus there will likely be some log jams to clear (depending on how guys develop, and of course, what happens with DW).

              • I think they actually wanted to see if Duda can play RF, Murphy 2B and if Thole is worth keeping at C. That to me is why they did not make any trades of those type players. While many fans have already made up their minds on those things I expect that the Mets are still looking at those while also checking to see how the youngin’s in the minors develop.

            • Campaign of negativity?????????? REALLY??? because he SUCKS as a GM??? wasn’t i as hard on omar minaya for making the same moves and mistakes this man is doing???
              please, spare me the drama…

              • Because you are being unreasonable and over dramatic. You have no perspective and refuse to acknowledge the realities of the situation.

There is a huge difference in disagreeing with he moves or been skeptical of the front office and attacking them and anyone who disagrees with you on a personal level.

                • says the guy who jumps on anybody who disagrees with him.you know what? people have different opinoins. DEAL WITH IT!

                  • Addict, ignore him, we all do …

                    • So does that mean we should all ignore you as well? What fun would that be?

                    • trs86, go ahead, whether you comment or not on the comments i make will not make me stop from saying the truth about the team and the GM in charge… there’s people here i ignore all the time, yet they keep trying… i for once, can care less to be honest.. it’s up to you.. but there’s a HUGE difference between me and donal.. he’s one of the WORST people in this site..

                    • Ya, there is that time I physically threatened someone…no wait, that wasn’t me

There’s how I go around accusing people rac-ism when I can’t logically debate them…no, that isn’t me either

There’s how I attack people personally based on their gender, age, employment status…damn, I don’t do any of that

There’s how I gang up on others and stalk their facebook pages and make comments about their families…huh, that isn’t me

So, wait, why am I the worst person here?

                  • Do I personally attack people who disagree with me? Or do I make fun of people who personally attack others and do a crap job expressing themselves?

                    • yes you do.if someone’s grammar is off you have a snark comment for them or you are so lame you have a link already to go to further criticize them.how lame do you have to be to go out of your way to find a link to get you’re snark across.twirp.

                    • Grammar is personal to you? Seriously?

Also, I hardly ever bring up grammar or spelling. Only when it is either so bad it makes the post incomprehensible or when the person who made the error was trying to insult someone else’s intelligence.

Again, how is making fun of what you actually posted as bad as attacking someone’s family? Or threatening them? Or talking about aspects of their life which have no bearing on the conversation what so ever?

              • Spare YOU the drama?
Who is turning every post into the same debate?
He MIGHT suck as a GM, he MAY not. The point is that there are not 2 camps that everyone falls into. There are about 2 of the Yeah!!! Sandy and about 3-5 of the BOOOO Sandy. The rest of us are lets wait and see what happens when the plan has been given time. Can’t the guys in the middle here get a break from the extremist?

              • ‘because he SUCKS as a GM???’

                That’s only your opinion.
That particular ‘fact’ remains to be seen.

          • Alex you complain about Alderson all day every day but other than not signing a whole bunch of expensive free agents what has he done differently than Minaya?

Do you realize that last years pitching staff, as bad as it was actually was better than the 2009 pitching staff? Better than the 2007 pitching staff as well and just 20 runs worse than the 2006 and just 35 runs worse than 2008.

The average runs against of 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 was 738 runs against. 2011 we gave up 742. Basically those teams combined gave up 1 less run than the 2011 staff.

Not really much of a difference there at all and that’s without anything from Johan.

The 2009 pitching staff in fact was so bad two guys got dumped mid season. Livan Hernandez and Tim Redding. Johan missed a couple starts at the end of the season but no big deal. Maine may have been hurt for half the season I can’t remember but overall they were healthy as a horse, only problem was they sucked.

The 2009 Met pitching staff of Santana, Pelfrey, Livan Hernandez, Tim Redding, John Maine, and Oliver Perez has got to be the worst pitching staffs ever assembled. They didn’t suffer from injury they. Perez was banished just like he was in 2010 and Putz was already hurt when he got here and everyone knew it. Niese had the same injury Reyes did while the medical staff stood their and watched but he was AAA depth and Figgy, Misch, and Nieve pitched better than the guys that got ditched.

The 2009 Met pitching staff gave up the 2nd most runs of any Met team since 1966, in a severe pitchers park.

My question is, what is it that was so great during the last administration to make you so critical of this one in comparison?

            • Agee, i sh**** on minaya for HORRIBLE desicion and signings as well.. ask TRS86 who felt i was being too hard on omar, but i too was against picking the option for alou, or signing castillo, or perez.. and for the money he offered them.. I was hard on omar as well so don’t give me that, sandy is doing a terrible job, guess what, i will criticize him for it, the only thing i like is him signing ronny cedeno, that’s it.. everything he’s done for this franchise has been a turn for the worst..

              • So in your honest opinion, trading Beltran for Wheeler was a bad move? How can you tell?

In your honest opinion not re-signing Feliciano was a bad move…
In your honest opinion trading Pagan for Ramirez and Torres was a bad move?

You can name a lot of things that went wrong because when you are forced to throw crap against a wall a lot is going to go wrong.

However, my point is that it is just to early to be able to judge his moves or even lack there of until we know the restrictions placed as well as allowing his plan to be given a chance.

  • 7 straight losing season… AND COUNTING… those are facts…..

    • And 5 straight seasons missing the playoffs for the Mets.

Don’t see your point. If we’re rating GMs across MLB that have missed post season, there apparently is a whole lot of crappy GMs employed out there.

    • there are, and the mets CURRENTLY HAVE ONE… whether you like it or not, omar’s worse years are FAR BETTER than sandy’s here in NY…

      • Comparing Omar and Sandy is pointless. There situations are and were completely different. Not only that, would it be more fair to compare Omar and Sandy when Sandy is actually no longer here?

      • who’s comparing them? it’s not a comparision when one is CLEARLY better than the other..

        • Barry Larkin is CLEARLY better than Jose Reyes…

        • Barry larkin is a HOF, so yes i agree…

          • So in turn Barry Larkin would be the best player the Mets would have ever produced.

Seriously, you don’t see the correlation at all. You are comparing one GM based on his first 1.5 years to another GM after his tenure was over. Not only can you not compare their situations you can’t compare their tenures.

President Bush is a better president than President Obama… why? Because Bush was elected to 2 terms.

            Again, pointless debate.

      • ‘omar’s worse years are FAR BETTER than sandy’s here in NY’.

If you’re basing it on how often a GMs team made post season under his tenure it’s not. Especially if you factor in the payroll expended to miss the playoffs those years.

I have to think though, expect for a small majority, most fans don’t rate GMs solely on whether the team makes the playoffs or not. Especially in this case where $$ are a big factor the past two years, if not the biggest factor.

Instant gratification would certainly be great. We all want them to get to post season.
Just isn’t happening in large part because of the finance problems. I can’t imagine SA only spending about 10 MIL this off season if more money was available. And if more money was available we might very well have seen Jose back in a Met uniform.
