Mack’s Mets: I Shot An Arrow Into The Air
My buddy Mack Ade from Mack’s Mets shot an arrow into the air, and this is what happened…
Mack – I have designated you as one of the “Lords of Baseball”. Well, at least you’re one of mine. The question… what two teams will play in the 2012 World Series?
Jason Parks, Baseball Prospectus – Boston Red Sox vs. San Francisco Giants
Joe D., Mets Merized Online – Hi Mack, I always wanted to be a lord someday. I would say the Rangers vs Cardinals. Despite the Cards losing their MVP and the Rangers losing their Ace, I think both teams made up for their losses in significant ways and will play very motivated in 2012. I see a repeat of 2011 in October.
Kevin Burkhardt, SNY – I can’t even begin to make a prediction yet. Give me a couple weeks of spring training!
Jay Horwitz, New York Mets – Thanks for the honor, the Mets and Angels.
Joshua Sussman, Bullpen Banter – I’ll take the Rays and Diamondbacks.
Vinny Cartiglia, MetsBlog – Detroit Tigers vs Phillies
Brian Joura, Mets360 – I think we should wait for Oswalt and Jackson to sign and for MLB to determine how many Wild Card teams there will be before we give our Wild-A@@-Guess on who makes the World Series. That said, put me down for Angels-Cardinals
Matt Grabusky, MLB Draft Guide – Good question. I haven’t put a lot of thought into it yet, but I’ll go with the Phillies and Rays. I saw your post today, I appreciate the support. The “Lords of Baseball” title is kind of nice too.
Eric Simon, Amazin Avenue - Yankees-Phillies.

That Jay Horowitz is so cute!!! lol
Hey what would Tug say but “Ya Gotta Believe!!”
Hey Kay, you are going to love our exclusive one-on-one interview with Jay. Stay tuned.
HA – that’s awesome Joe (even though I was being sarcastic – fully admitting), I will definitely read that. Even though I think his tenure should have been over 15 years ago, when I met him with Ike Davis 2 years ago, he was the consummate professional and gentleman.
Oh yeah I know. I’m a huge Twilight Zone fan. Kelly can tell you all about that.
I even got her son into TZ and now he even looks forward to the marathons on SyFy much to her dismay. Ironically he was chosen to play a role in his class play at school last year, The Monsters Are Due On Maple Street. At first I thought he was pulling my leg, lol.
Now that is the kind of school play I wished we did in my time.Would of been a heck of a lot more fun. I’m sure then that you own “definitive edition” series. Watching the original show sponsor commercials with the clips of Serling introducing next week’s episodes are a great to watch.
No kidding, I think I did 12 Angry Men twice, lol.
As for Serling and the old ads, yes, and don’t forget his smoke filled prologues.
WOW 12 Angry Men – one of my all time favorites……….
Something I think many on this board should see (again)………..has quite the message! Making a decision with all the facts, and realizing your first “opinion” may have been/was wrong all along.
By the way, memo to Jessep, SRT, Agee, TRS86, Xtreem, Donal Joe Diaz et al: I have been anointed by Mack. From now on I’m the only lord around here, not Sandy. However you can still refer to him as savior if you like.
Hahaha – thanks for the heads up!
Lord, as in “Lord of the Flies” or “Lord of the Rings” or perhaps you’re the last of the “Time Lords?”
I was thinking “Lords of Flatbush” but that probably would only make Wilpon smile.
I guess I could go with Lord of the Rings because sometimes these threads can be like a three ring circus. Plus I think cannibalism went out with the seventies.
whew, i flew under the radar…
Hey Joe D, I’ve never used the term Lord or Savior! I got lumped in that group cause I don’t hate him.
I love it…………….does that mean those that make up the word Lord and assume people have anointed Sandy “lord” can/will now stop? Pretend time stopped for me when I no longer watched Mr. Rogers Neighborhood back when Willie Mays was a NY Met!
Thanks Lord Joe!
Nah, haven’t you noticed? We still have a little super hero group running around here in their underwear as well.
My vote is for “Lord of the Dance”.
I WILL NOT STAND FOR SUCH BLASPHEMY FROM AN INFIDEL!
Can we still call him the Messiah?
Yankees vs Reds.
Yankees vs. Nationals in WS…Yankees win it.
Fantasy Time: Mets get final playoff spot…win 90 regular season games. Shhhhh…still dreamin’….please don’t wake me….
Why does Jay Horwitz still have a job? The Mets have had poor PR and tons of leaks to the press for years. How come Horwitz never takes heat for it?
I thought that Horowitz had nothing to do with PR, and that he was just the laision guy that set up stuff like player visits, etc.?
USMF, hear me out…
It’s not Jay’s job to tell the GM what moves he should or shouldn’t make. It’s not Jay’s job to tell the closer not to punch out his father in law in the Family Room at Citi Field. It’s not Jay’s job to make sure his boss doesn’t invest 90% of his money in a Ponzi scheme. It’s not Jay’s job to make sure the second baseman catch a game-ending infield popup against the Yankees. It’s not Jay’s job to ensure the doctors do not misdiagnose player injuries. It is nor Jay’s job to have a GM call a beat writer out in the middle of a press conference.
However, it is Jay’s job to help clean up in the aftermath of all those things. It is his job to reach out to the media and make himself accessible and keep the lines of communications open and clear. It is his job to ensure that Mets fan events and promotions go off as planned and problem free. It is his job to make sure the players are not inundated with hundreds of interview requests and is discerning about who can or cannot have access to the players. Jay does HIS job very well and diligently carries out all of HIS responsibilities.
Why, oh why, Eric?
