Johan Throws Second Bullpen, Collins Expects Him To Be Ready Opening Day
Johan Santana threw another bullpen session this morning, his second of the spring, and he was happy with the way his 29 pitch effort went.
“I’ve been through a lot the last couple of years,” he said. “It’s exciting to be back on the field.”
On whether he would be ready for Opening Day, Santana said, “Hopefully toward the end of spring we’ll have a better idea if I can be there.”
His manager Terry Collins on the other hand, offered a much more optimistic outlook, ”In my mind, he’ll be ready.”
Collins also added that he’s hoping he’ll get 25 to 28 starts from Santana this season and that he plans on having him skipped a few times and working on an extra day of rest to keep him fresh.

Finally some good news! Hopefully it’s not smoke and mirrors. Also want to see Johan take it slow. Would love to see a good season from him. Unfortunately it will probably be short lived if he has a good start he’ll most likely be sent on his way.

Lmao, Funny and sad, but true.. he’ll be gone to even save no more $..
Not witt the amount of Money that is still left on his contract. Unless they absorb 75%+ of that contract, he’s not being moved, at least not until next year.
I can see a team that is on the verge of making the post season willing to take up to 50% of his contract. And as we saw last year this front office doesn’t mind absorbing money in a trade as long as it gets rid of some of that money due i.e. K-Rod and Beltran.
They didn’t get out of any money due Beltran. that was about getting something before Beltran walked away for nothing.
Yes, they ate most of Rodriguez’s money last season to get away from the vesting option for this season.
