Citi Field Tribute: We Remember Gary Carter 1954 – 2012

A beautiful and fitting tribute by the New York Mets at Citi Field.
Here at Mets Merized Online, we’ll pay tribute to Gary Carter for “8″ days – with thoughts and well wishes from both our readers and writers. We invite you to share your thoughts, old photos, collectibles, or anything you deem fitting.
We’ll also be highlighting some of the most remarkable achievements in the life of Gary Carter the baseball player, and Gary Carter the family man who was a lifelong advocate for all children.
We will be donating $2 from the sale of every RETIRE 8 t-shirt to the Gary Carter Foundation. We are also pleased to announce that one of our sponsors will match all the money we have raised for Gary’s foundation up until July 31, 2012.
We will send the Gary Carter Foundation a check for the total amount raised postmarked on 8/8.
* We lowered our regular prices on our Retire 8 buttons and t-shirts to make them much less than the rest of our offerings. Basically our cost plus the $2.00 margin which we will donate.
Get your Retire 8 T-Shirts or Retire 8 Buttons today.

Me too Joe. Nothing like a little Mets dramatics!! I think this is how Carter would want us to remember him.
GREAT moment.
OMG when i saw the title of the post I though it was just something reflecting on a past moment. I didn’t realize that he had passed away.
My deepest condolences to his family & friends. I hope the Mets do right and honor his memory appropriately.
My heart is breaking……..
RIP
God Bless………
Good start to cementing his place in the heart of us fans, huh?
Listening to the tributes SNY have on now while watching all kinds of clips from his Mets career.
The memories…..
Where have our Fathers gone?
Straight to Heaven, of course.
Do not look for them in the cemeteries of the dead.
Visit them instead in the fields of living and growing things they loved.
Breathe the air and enjoy the skies and waters of their recreation.
Touch the tools of their work.
Sing their songs
Pray in the churches where they worshipped.
Travel the paths and lanes of their communities.
Honor their love of country with patriotism.
Embrace their friends and families with love and compassion.
Miss them.
Godspeed Gary, you were one of the best–
Annie, that’s beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
R.I.P. Kid. He was a hall of famer on and off the field.
Loved the Kid!
Great video, it gave me goosebumps.
As you see in my name I am a fan of #8. My first memories as a Mets fan growing up in the 80′s are of Gary Carter. In little league and through high school and even when I’m still able to get out there now I wear #8 on the field. God Bless and rest your soul Gary Carter.
I love the buttons and bought a couple of packages to hand out to some friends and family that are Mets fans and loved Gary. Hope they come soon!
