There's a couple of flaws with this and it's based on what the offers that come back are. It appeared last year the Mets were hanging on to Beltran until San Fran caved.

Also, 2a – Wright is awful fences no help – They trade him for a song and a dance, maybe even take the option before they do to make sure they get more for him than just a rental package

Based on my understanding they can't pickup the option this year and then trade him. The option would still be void.

Met History being what it is you really have to put that one on TOP of the list of possibilities!

I actually fear for Ike Davis' health right now because our Crack (smoking) medical staff CLEARED him yesterday! That could mean he is terminal!

well obviously before but more of a look at the trending up until the decision time (deadline comes)

Where it is at the time of the deadline will will be key to what happens at the deadline I would guess.

If it tooks like they might hit a break even on attendance/payroll this year then he might not get traded at the deadline, Take the option and then go from there and see where the next trade deadline attendance is at.

If it looks like they are going to lose more money (and at this point if attendance is the same as last year they will lose about 15-20 mil) then chances are likely Wright gets traded!

They have the option to work with so they do not need to rush it this year. here is what I think are the possibilities:

1 - Attendance sucks (worse than last year) - Wright gets traded for kids
2 - Attendance irrelevant - Someone offers a big package for him and Sandy can't refuse!
2a - Wright is awful fences no help - They trade him for a song and a dance, maybe even take the option before they do to make sure they get more for him than just a rental package
 2b - Wright is GREAT - (See #5 and or #3)
3 - Attendance is static (from last year) - If the right package comes along he goes, if not they try again next year where they have the offseason and Deadline to work with
4 - Attendance is good - Wright stays, they take the option and then talk deal
5 - Attendance is great - Wright stays and they don't even wait for the end of the season they lock him up long term now!

Thats sort of in the order I think is most likely to happen.

What concerns me most is Sandy Alderson saying that David's status would be independent of the team's performance. If that is the case and both the Mets and David are doing well, I'm afraid we might be in for a repeat of last summer. Knowing David's salary would command a big part of the projected payroll reductions for the years ahead doesn't help, either.

Disagree with me about the importance that KRod and Beltran could have played in contributing to a young team's maturity and growth but David is still young enough to be an integral part in the "rebuilding" phase and if he is sent packing, then we know it was not in the interests of the ball club as it was the owners - just like Jose when the only thing offered by the Mets was that box of chocolates.

Hard for me to try and predict how many games they'll win until the season starts.
Let's see who is on the field, who is pitching, who might come up with an early injury that might change the whole playing field.

I like Murphy's assessment though on DNL on SNY last night when asked about this years team:
'With the extra wild card, 88 wins could get you a ticket to the dance'.

Murphy is going in positive.

75 wins, but whos counting?

getting from there to .500 is 1 win per month, plus a spare laying around someplace.

I sse them as at least a .500 team right now, assuming a normal level of health and production from the key guys. Of course if you lose your best players for 3 months or more you are going to be hurt, but on the flip side, you never know who is going to step up and replace them. Dickey in 2010, a prime example.

There is a ton of things that have to break right and nothing to go wrong for this team to "compete"...I also question Alderson's ability to improve the team before the trade deadline to make a push if one is possible. Of course, there are a ton of long term issues facing the team and nobody can really be sure what the future holds.

That said, even though a playoff berth is almost impossible this year, I think the team is better than what are pessimistic minds are putting them at. Our pen is deep and could be pretty good, our line up as potential to be very productive, our defense is a little weak at 2nd and right, but Tejeda and Ike should help Murph and Torres should help Duda. Our rotation is a huge question mark...too many injuries, to much needed improvement and not enough depth, but it does have 5 guys that have shown they could win 15 games.

I going to (try) turn of the pessimist part of my mind until after the opening weekend. I'm going to ignore my concerns over health, depth, Wilponzie and Sandy's direction of the team. I'm going to focus on the positive of these team and try to ignore the 25+ question marks and just be positive. I've had a very tough winter, lost my job and stuff, but positive leads are starting to come in...I need to start the "Spring of Positive Thinking".

Our pen is deep and could be pretty good, our line up as potential to be very productive, our defense is a little weak at 2nd and right, but Tejeda and Ike should help Murph and Torres should help Duda. Our rotation is a huge question mark…too many injuries, to much needed improvement and not enough depth, but it does have 5 guys that have shown they could win 15 games.

I going to (try) turn of the pessimist part of my mind until after the opening weekend. I’m going to ignore my concerns over health, depth, Wilponzie and Sandy’s direction of the team. I’m going to focus on the positive of these team and try to ignore the 25+ question marks and just be positive. I’ve had a very tough winter, lost my job and stuff, but positive leads are starting to come in…I need to start the “Spring of Positive Thinking”.
