You are certainly entitled to your opinion, but you want to put an inaccurate arm at SS that has not played the position since high school at SS because Murphy may or may not be better at 3B? I think it may be an out side the box thought (which are welcome for sure) but I can’t see this ever happening. And for those that think Tejada is trying to live up to Reyes expectations are completely irrational. Tejada needs to live up to Tejada standards, bat .280-ish, hit 10 HR, get on base and play above average D. If he can do that (or better) I think most fans will be happy.

And I would guess you’ll see Murph at 3B when Wright is wearing another uniform and Havens is the starting 2B, which could all happen around the trade deadline of this year…

Wright played shortstop during high school and I’m pretty sure he has an arm for it. You need to think of the big picture, you can get 2 upsides for the expense of a potential decline or upgrade at a position. Murphy has proven he is best at 3B, so upside. Tejada is better at 2B than SS (upside) and it would get the mind set of Tejada being a Reyes Jr. out and if you bring Wright to SS then all is okay because all the fans always loved Wright more than Reyes so no one would complain about Wright at SS because everyone loved him from the start to begin with. I just hope good ol’ skip tries this out at least in spring training. I have a feeling it could work, if not then I will regress.

Maybe this explains why Baybozo thinks he’d make a better GM than Sandy and a better coach than most of those the Mets have. He is a misanthrope who can’t find anything good to say about 99% of the MLB personalities.

But this guy was a great coach for young teenagers, if you believe him. Most of us don’t. Was he a lousy player too?

So because I wasn’t the best post player means as a coach I can’t be a good teacher? These guys are coaches, not role models.

I can’t say with any conviction that Teufel is the best guy to teach how to field 2B…
He wasn’t all that great with the glove himself!

But I do recognize that Murphy and him are similar in that they both got to play second based on their Batting not thier glove!

I still say by the time September rolls around Wright will be sent off in a trade, Murphy will be our 3B and if a SS is part of the deal Tejada will be back at 2B and if not Turner will play there instead!

Tejada for 2B, Wright for SS and Murphy for 3B. Tejada is more solid at 2B than SS (i base this off all the chances I have seen given to him). Wright does have experience at SS and wasn’t bad I believe. Murphy said he is most comfortable at 3B and last season did prove he is better there than anywhere else. Thats just my opinion, could be wrong but I feel thats how the in field should be dealt.

if you’ve followed the game of baseball instead of analyzing exel spreadsheets all the time you’d know that a lot of baseball’s greatest coaches/managers either had no MLB experience or very little and were not good. Most of your best teachers are not good players (for the semantics guys – not saying Teufel wasn’t good)

I’m not saying he’s gonna help Murphy, to me this is a waste of time because of Sandy’s beliefs and is going to fail again because he simply cannot play 2B so I don’t care who works with him.

Teufel was a shitty fielder. I don’t see how anybody can dispute this.

He certainly wasn’t as bad as Murphy is, but I don’t see how crappy tutoring is going to fix Murphy’s defensive inadequacies.

And agreed, I eventually see Murphy as trade bait or the 3B for at least a little while. Havens should be grabbing 2B by the short ones in the not to distant future. Time will tell, as it always does.

Why wait for the inevitable?Just hit Murphy in the knee with a hammer a few times and render him useless for 2 months.He cannot play 2nd base.Period.Also Tuefel was a decent right handed bat with very limited fielding skills.Murphy is a good stick with no 2nd base fielding skills,Sounds like a perfect match to get Murphy killed again in 2012.

Love Murph’s work ethics and his bat but realistically, I don’t see him as the Mets starting 2nd basemen going forward.

I think he’s just a place holder for now, and Teufel’s main job in helping Murph out will be to make sure he stays on the field by trying to teach him the mechanics of playing 2nd base so he doesn’t get hurt again.

Is that all there is? Just Tim Teufel to fix Murphy! It will take more than that, much more!

There is a lot of comedy in this article. Look at the photo, Murphy is 180 degrees turned around from where he should be. He is leading with his throwing arm instead of following with it to get velocity on the ball. He talked to Tim at “Fantasy Camp”. Yep, that’s where he belongs for sure. “We were always at different levels when I was coming up.” Really, Murphy at a different level than Teufel? No kidding, like kindergarten vs the varsity.
