Des, I wouldn’t put too much stock into trade rumors. Most of them are just guys speculating or repeating office rumors.

Look at all the big trades that happened this off season. How many did we learn about well in advance of them happening? Most of them seemingly came out of nowhere.

Most front offices know better than to conduct their business through the media. For all we know, Tejada had some suitors. the Mets also have very little in the way of middle infielders should Tejada not play for whatever reason.

Reese Havens is one of the few bright spots on the near term horizon. He is a player to actually look forward to as a potential improvement this season. I also buy into the Tejada/Havens/Davis combo. If we can get that in place, there is a semblance of a prayer that the team may be have some respect in the division. I personally liked how Tejada improved at the plate last year. He developed an eye for pitches and is flexible enough in his approach to be a productive, clutch RBI producer. I like Tejada and Havens as the keystone combination on this team. And with a solid defense at 1B with Ike and the power he provides, that will be a very productive combination. Havens will provide power and consistent production from the 2B position to give the team an edge. I like that a lot and look forward to it right out of the box after ST. We can then package up Murphy in a trade for a SP which we will need sooner later than later. But with this FO, Havens will probably get relegataed to AA and Davis will probably get traded for the needed SP. Unfortunately, I have no confidence in the management of this team aside from Collins being able to do what he can with one arm tied behind his back by the Almighty Brainiac.

DES, come on, man. Tejada has 544 AB’s in the Bigs over 200 as a 20 yr old filling in for the great Reyes in ’09. He’s not a bopper…never will be, but the kid’s got talent and i’m happy he’s on our team.

i agree with you on the players, Bayonne. i think many of Sandy’s moves have been dictated by finances. Which is why i’ve supported the ‘developing talent’ approach. i too wish we had budgeted out $$$’s on upgrading the rotation–but we’re in full rebuild mode.

Him or Valdespin – either one. If either one can win the 2B job out of ST than the future may be here sooner than expected. Tejada is a winner and IMO is already a better hitter than any of the other SS the Mets have had during their pennant runs outside of 2006 (Harrelson, Santana, & Ordonez). I did not want Reyes gone, I thought the best way to move forward and stay competitive was to keep Reyes and pair him with Tejada. And Tejada could STILL take over at SS 5 years from now and still be only around 26! But that ship has sailed and it is what it is and that being said it will take power from other sources just like the other successful Mets teams but Tejada is a winner and an everyday SS for a pennant contender IMO.

Tejada, Havens/Valdespin, Ike Davis – If that could work out than the Mets can move Murph or Wright and continue to build. But who the hell knows with this front office because in my eyes they dropped the ball right from the day they arrived.

As you should know by now that fool simply hates Tejada. Any normal baseball fan realizes that the kid is only 21 and is going to have a promising future as a starter and that’s why he wasn’t offered in trade bait. Nobody else can play SS, the kid hit better than even I thought he would last year and he’s going to be a Major League starter.

That other dope is just still bitter because almost 2 years ago I was predicting that Ruben Tejada would win the 2B job for the Mets and his prediction of Havens would not even make the team and I wound up being rate. The crybaby jerkowff des is still lamenting that he lost. He’s an idiot.

Here I am HOPING that Havens has a decent ST so he can pair up with Tejada AND Ike Davis and from a formidable home grown core and this dirtbag is still hating on a player he was SO WRONG about on so many fronts that all he’s doing is making himself look bad.

Tejada has MADE IT. He is a MAJOR LEAGUER from here on forward and will become a very nice hitter – even better than I thought. That is it. DONE. Time to move on.

It amazes me that most fans on this Site disparage Tejada. Why? He played MLB last year @ 21 and did damn well. I’ve liked this kid since he appeared on the radar screen in 2009 in AA/AAA.He’s a fine ballplayer and will only get better on offense as he gains muscle.
IF he’s not our “LT answer @ SS,” he’ll be a damn fine trading chip because he’ll be a very solid player.
