Mets Still Not Official Host Of 2013 All-Star Game

Major League Baseball has yet to officially announce the Mets as the host for the 2013 All-Star Game, says Eric Fisher of Sporting News. Fisher says that MLB and New York City are still negotiating and working on “dealing with the complex logistics” of hosting such an event in the nation’s largest market.
Fisher makes a point of saying that despite both MLB and the Mets declining to comment on the issue, it is a matter of planning out the event and not a result of the Amazin’s financial situation.
It will likely be until late January at the earliest before any resolution/official announcement is made.

All this likely says is that Uncle Bud’s patience has not worn out yet. It will in a few months. You can bet the replacement groups are forming up right now.
Logistics? I know – MLB requires more restrooms than the two sets in the upper promenade! Fred and Jeff never counted on “important” visitors sitting in those seats. Or maybe MLB doesn’t want to hear complaints from out of towners about how much left field is blocked off?
It would be an embarrassment to the Mets to have the site of the all-star game rescinded for this is New York City and logistics is one issue that never becomes a problem though indeed visitors will have to book in advance to get the best hotel rooms since tourism is up so much. This might therefore be more of an issue with bureacracy than anything else.
What better selling point to new potential owners than being able to host an All-Star game within the first year of ownership.
Perhaps 24/7 access to Mr Met couch dances could sway some influence ??? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm???
Typical of Mets fans to use and abuse every single situation to bash ownership whether justified or not. So predictable.
Has there been any word on those $20 million shares?
I like how the city cut back on infrastructure spending, including police and firefighters, in order to build that aluminum sided monument to Steinbrenner’s ego and now that underfunded infrastructure could end up costing us an All Star game.
