Cooperstown is nothing but a history museum and the steroid era needs to be told. Have a wing or hallway that discusses steroids and what/wasn't done to regulate them. Guys in this era that performed at HOF levels should be voted in no matter what and be placed in that area. Let the fans read about the history and decide for themselves who the believe shouldn't be in. The players played by the rules and are no being penalized for it. MLB had no problem with it until fan perception changed. Before that it was all "Chicks dig the long ball".

For guys like McGuire, put him in the hall and place information about the congress hearing and why fans no perceive him as a user. Sosa, maybe you can put him corked bat on the wall as well. We can't forget these things happened and they were all great until we decided to wake up.

This.
There is no perfect system whereby you could be assured all voters are using the same criteria - simply because I feel everyone has their own slant and opinion when looking at the same facts.

Those groups you named would at least represent a broad enough sampling of those who should be able to look at facts, with the guidelines on voting in hand, and do the right thing.

Ohhh look at Alex and I agreeing. Well sort of

First off where we disagree, this 98% of people who never grabbed a bat. I hate that argument. It's so snob-ish. It's just like when Revis called out Francesa saying Francesa can't talk about the NFL because he didn't play. Take somebody like Peter Gammons. He'd eat you for breakfast in a baseball discussion.

Now: Where we agree.

I said in an earlier post that if I were to change the voting it would be done where the media, then current living members, then managers/coaches/executives all vote for these players.

Give me the guys who write about them, the guys who walked in their shoes and the guy who coached them, coached against them or evaluated them in an office.
