A (Citi) Field Of Screams

This comes from VisualCocaine on Tumblr. It looks like a post apocalyptic vision of Fred Wilpon’s worst nightmare. I could just imagine a mob of flesh-starved zombies wearing Phillies jerseys roaming around aimlessly looking for any surviving Met fans to devour. Seriously though, it’s pretty cool, scary yes, but still cool.

I'm a data analyst and researcher for a leading news agency who loves life and is hooked on the Mets. I love following the Amateur Draft and have a particular fondness for the Mets Minor Leagues who I follow each day. Give me a cold beer, a summer day, and a Mets game, and I'm good to go.

  • I know a guy from the DR who own a taller of gomas around there, saw him one time going to the game . that area looks very disturbing, it kinda brings back memories of my conutry who has plenty of streets like that, being a poor country you see that in many places. shocking to see that here in US.

  • Are you crazy? Cool, did you say? No, very uncool! That is a blight and let’s hope Citifield doesn’t look that way in a few years when the Wilpons are done with it! Meanwhile, aren’t there any violations of law going on in the chop shops that can get them closed down? No urban blight statutes, violations of environmental regulations for pollution? No zoning law violations? No pedaling of illegal substances going on there? Come on legal authorities, start the investigation and shut those places down or at least threaten significant fines or issue the fines with increasing penalties until the owners clean up. This is not Colombia; it can be cleaned up. What is Bloomberg waiting for?

    • “aren’t there any violations of law going on in the chop shops that can get them closed down?”
There are Plenty the problem is the Mob has more money to bribe officials than Wilpon does! LOL

      • Good one! You just might be right.

  • Don’t knock those car yards. Excellent place to find any car part you need. If they close them down you’ll have a TON of undocumented workers out of a job, which would add to the unemployed strain in the city. The city has purposefully ignored that area for decades.

    • Not to mention they were there before Shea was ever thought of. And that area is specifically mentioned in ‘The Great Gatsby’ book.

    • MM86 i am not knocking them.. and true, that;s like the amazon underground taller of mechanics lol.. just saying it brings memories and i am surprise it still there to be honest..

    • I always wondered if i can sneak my car in around that area and park it and go unnoticed for 3 hours. I always liked that chop shop area

      • Sure can. Just make sure the place you park by is closed. Can’t do it by a place open for business. I’ve been doing it forever.

      • Bayonne parking a perfectly good car by a chop shop is not really the best idea if you ask me!
        Closed or not!

    • Bayonne, you might, but you gotta be in tight with one of those guys around there.. can’t trust them if youdon’t know them LOL, you know the drill.. the area where i used to love parking was around roosvelt ave, cuz on the way to the stadium we’d stop at the bodega and get like 3 or 4 beers in while walking to the stadium…

  • Supposedly Sterling Equities was part of a group that put a bid to convert that area into restaurants among other things. As far as I can recall the results of those bids have yet to be announced.
