Joe please stop apologizing to them for things you post that may be nothing more than speculation.

Truth is the only problem they have with the post is that you didn’t make a Happy Happy Joy Joy all is well in Metville posting.

Thats the only problem they had with it!

They post speculative crap all the time I mean look at the opinions on Wheeler and Nimmo none of their optimism is anything more than optimistic speculation!

Rumors are valid stories in the Blogosphere!
As long as it is stated (as it ws here) that it is a rumor then you did nothing wrong!

Don’t give into their attempts to make this site into I Love Sandy.com
Don’t capitulate to their attempts at bullying and attacking anyone who dares to think the mets are headed in the wrong direction.

They wish to think that way they are free to state it without apology and if you wish to report on the bad news even unsubstantiated news feel free to do so without apologizing for not posting more Kool Aid to drink!
They don’t seem to stop or apologize when they talk about how great an unproven MiLer is so I see no reason why you can’t mention an unproven rumor for discussion!

Just because it doesn’t fit into their media campaign doesn’t make it YOUR problem or your BAD!

I understand you have been friends with some of these guys for years and I will say this…
If a disagreement on the direction of the Mets is enough to hurt that friendship then it wasn’t really a friendship at all!

I disagree with a lot of folks around here and I would still buy them beers if we were at the bar!
But I would not apologize to them for our disagreement!

Heyward was out for injuries a lot last year and his batting average I think dipped to about 223 and his home runs went way down from his rookie season. He has a mechanical flaw in his swing he has to correct. Lots of potential.He could be had.

not really. If anything, they are buying low. remember, you ain’t buying the wilpons. you are buying the Mets.

20mill for 4% means the team is valued at $500mill.. So if the team ends up selling for 750 next year, a a 50% return.

Not sure what though you are getting 4% of. just the team? Any part of stadium? I seem to recall that various corporate sub-entities “Own” different pieces, but don’t have any idea how it is all structured.

anyway, people buying in aren’t doing it so they can hob-nob with Jeffy. It has to be looking at the team as a distressed property, and they want to get in while the value is depressed.

Chipper Jones is at the end and Wright would be a perfect fit for the Braves. We could get Jurgens and I bet McClout, and possibly Jason Heyward. Maybe not all three but a trade for Juegens and Heyward sounds fine to me. We are not a contending team so why worry about trading Wright within the division. A perfect fit if you ask me.

Wright will be gone by the end of spring training at the latest. Also If Bay hits this season, and with the fences being moved in had a good amount of home runs, he will be moved as well. Santana and his contract are the unmovable albatross the Mets will just have to swallow. Also if anyone shows interest in Mike Pelfrey he is gone too. Do not be surprised if our favorite knuckleballer doesn’t get traded as well. The Mets will be come the home shopping club of MLB.

This has nothing to do with the return or his trade value. It’s about shedding salary and in this case $15 million. Waiting until the trade deadline means the Mets will have to pay him $10MM of what he’s owed. That’s $10MM too much.

I’d honestly be shocked if they traded Wright before the summer (if at all) simply because I think his value is not where it needs to be for it to be worth trading for. Which includes covering his salary.

I think the investors will make or break the Wilpon’s. I think if they can get enough on board by Opening Day then things will start to settle down. If they don’t (which frankly, anybody who isn’t friends with Wilpon’s would be FOOLS to pay $20m right now) then I think the Wilpon’s will be forced to address the financial situation, and I think Wright makes the team a more attractive purchase for a new owner.

I think you’ll see a healthy Johan or a salary dump of Bay happen before you see Wright traded.

If you examine the link, you will find that David Wright is better than Ryan Zimmerman in virtually every statistical category, whether it pertains to a season average or a sum total.

I’m not going to lambaste you for your ad hominem attack, but perhaps your assessment of Wright is clouded by the broader frustration that all Met fans currently experience.

Mind you, I think Ryan Zimmerman is an excellent ballplayer and we’d be blessed if he were ever to wear a Met uniform. Last year, I observed that he could not throw. Whether his throwing improved after I saw him is a matter of opinion. Just sayin’ what I saw.

However, David Wright is superior to Ryan Zimmerman in total and averages for home runs, doubles, triples, stolen bases, rbi’s & OPS. Wright has 28 baseball awards to Zimmerman’s 15.

Now, what were you saying about facts?

Spot on, Des. That’s what I’ve been trying to tell people. Everything IS on the table including Wright. This whole rebuilding charade is just that – a charade. As if the Mets are the only ones who hope to select good players in the draft. I was the first one to say that Mets payroll will be closer to $85M this season and $70M in 2013. Now even the beat writers are coming around on that months after I first said it.

If the various claims about the Mets dire financial status are true — as I believe them to be — then an effort to unload David Wright’s $15 million dollar salary makes sense. The Mets front office is fighting for the team’s financial life so everything is on the table. We’re going to see a lot of mediocre players with cheap contracts playing for the Mets. To provide cover, they’ll be touted as future stars.

Reality will take over when we are a .425 – .465 cellar dweller for two or three years. Drat. Our history as a storied franchise is being robbed.
