teams have to fill out the roster somehow. Even rebuilding ones, if they don’t have guys for a particular spot that are ready to pitch in the majors.

Hard to see Moyer getting more that a MiL invite deal anywhere, so on those terms, does not hurt to bring him in as depth.

I would take Moyer over half of our staff! And maybe if Pelfrey loses the attitude and forgets he was a first round draft and pitches like the #3 or 4 that he is, he might succeed. Patiently waiting for Harvey and Wheeler!

You know,I thought about this and I thought it would be a good idea. At this point,its what he could teach the young guys rather then how many wins he could string. And remember,Moyer up until getting TJS was a very durable pitcher. He pitched the right way.

I’m not sure. Dillon Gee looked ok on his own for a part of last year. It sounds like the purpose of this move would be to aid Gee’s pitching acumen? If so, then I wonder what the expectation is out of Dan Warthen. Maybe let Warthen go, then sign Moyer, but as a pitching coach. That way, head case Pelfrey can get a fresh perspective and benefit too.

Maybe they should go after Whitey Ford, or maybe Harvey Haddux, how about Bob Gibson? Tom Seaver and Jerry Koosman? They’d all be an improvement over the junk that Alderson brings in.
