Should Mets Talk to Jimmy Rollins?
I know he wants five years, but talk him into three years at $45 with an option year? Keep Tejada at 2nd? Discuss.

No.
This would be like Juan Samuel coming back to the Mets. No no no.
No way, Jose. (Get it?)
We don’t need a Prince-look-alike with a nasty attitude & declining skills.
We have Ruben Tejada & one million 2nd base candidates.
And Rollins has health issues.
No.
I don’t see him as any kind of LT solution, so why bother? If they can spend 15mill to fill a hole, spend it on a CF, C or (especially) pitching.
I would not mind a stop gap at SS if they want to hedge bets on tejada, but that would be a much cheaper 1 year option.
At this point, might as well roll the dice with Tejada, and hopefully havens has a big ST and can win the 2B job. might as well let them learn on the job together.
Hell, that is kind of how the Phils started out building a core. they had a SS, 2B and 1B all “growing up” together for years before the team became good.
If they can talk to him and come to an agreement? Yes. I’m only interested in WINNING, period.
SHOULD METS TALK TO JIMM…… (interrupted) NO!!!!
HA I love it, this puts the Reyes signing in perspctive imo. 3 years and an option for a guy 5 years older then Reyes for oh just $3 million less per year. LOL, yea good move letting Reyes go.. ..and all that being said, yes sign him. Tejada was a pefect fit to back up Reyes and play 2b, to groom him instead of giving a 22 yr old 600abs. So he can do the same for Rollins who has had injury issues too. Plus, Rollins adds psychological toughness the Mets have lacked, an attitude to take on NL east opponents. Id rather have Reyes going forward but now we could use a SS so id be fine signing him if we are going to try to compete but, if the $$ handcuffs are on and this will be are only signing id rather get a closer and pen help..is he really going to get $15mm per ?!?!
Just stop. If you could talk him into a 3 year deal, he’d be resigning with the Phillies.
I think that is what ends up happing. There won’t be any real market for him, and he will reup with the Phils for 3.
Would not surprise me.
He might just wait all winter though to see if other teams panic as talent is taken off the table through the off season.
If he gets five years or 15 MM per, we’ve got some idiots out there.
Oh wait, we do.
He’ll probably get it.
But in response to your question, no. We don’t have the money to go after him, it seems.
At this point with Reyes and Beltran gone, the Mets are obviously going younger, not older. They may as well continue the youth movement that they stared with getting Wheeler and start to draft (hopefully well) some young hard throwers. Look at the Braves. All they do is draft young pitching and are always bringing them up through the system or trading them away when in need of position players.
Doesn’t matter what we think…they aren’t going to.
Tejada is now this team’s SS for the foreseeable future. This team is rebuilding. A mid-30′s, oft-injured SS is not in this team’s plans. End of discussion.
Oh, and “talk him into three years at $45 with an option year”…Really? $15 mil a year for this guy…when they wouldn’t even make an offer to Reyes who accepted only $17+ mil a year. C’mon, man!
Should the Mets talk to Jimmy Rollins?
Only to tell him to go frak himself
THIS IS THE DUMBEST QUESTION EVER?I HOPE YOU ARE JUST TRYING TO ANNOY FOLKS.NOBODY CAN BE THIS STUPID
Gary, if you really think that is a stupid question, you’re the idiot. You don’t think stranger things than that have happened in sports. Grow up.
Should mets talk to Jimmy Rollins? HELL NO are they crazy?! At his age and how well the mets fans “love” him? Yea right…I’m sure that would be another great “Public Relations” move…Let Reyes walk away…then get the replacement of a rival team there SS…oh yea in which most of not all mets fans dislike. Why not talk to Cole Hammels too? Or as I like to call him “Cold Ham”; and Yadier Molina as our catcher also? I’m so tired of the Wilpons…
i say why not, the mets should inquire about rollins. The phillies have taken some mets players in the recent 3 years, why not us. at least rollins can hit hit long ball. I think the mets should hire me to help them understand to get good talent, ya along shot. it was worth a try. But i’m always writing something and no one has relpy to me on any comments i leave. If the mets can offer all that money to scape goat reyes who all of sudden when to miami a small market team, yes we should do something to provent us going to last place. Does anybody out there who works for the mets read these at all. Hello. Wake up mets, or say sandy, wilpons, ya right.
Actually, this post was partly serious and partly a parody of the sometimes ridiculous posts that pose as serious essays and commentary on this site. Do you know how many times, I’ve seen a provocative headline for a post only to find out the commentary had no depth and was just a waste of space; i.e, every Delcos post.
Ouch.
I’m just curious though, you’re partially serious on going after Rollins?
You’re comparing this to Delcos? Wow.
what is this garbage? do you not THINK as you’re writing this?

Capps gets 1 year and option.#twins
Jimmy Rollins is on the decline. We’re not gonna sign a 28 year old for 6 years and 111 million in his prime but we’re gonna sign a declining 33 year old to a 3yr 45 million dollar dea.He wont accept less than 5 years from his current team why would he come to a bad team for 3 years.
who cares this team sucks and it is only going to get WORSE.
NO!
OK, maybe I’m being too rash and should think this through a little bit . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .NO! NO! NO!!!!!!
