Our self-appointed genius GM labeled Jose’ as eyewash for a team that is not good enough to obtain value from his talents. What an insult! That alone should have convinced Jose’ to walk. Thanks SA for nothing. Why don’t you take a hike off a cliff. I will drive you there personally if you wish.

Next up – David. SA should be starting his campaign shortly to insult him so he can sign with an aggressive team somewhere outside of NY. Let’s continue to flush out the eyewash and see how far into the cellar we can bury ourselves.

My prediction stands, it will be at least 2020 before the rebuilding begins. We are still in self-destruction mode now and rebuilding is far off in the future.

Well Sandy now has 80 million to play with, let’s see how his baseball decision making plays out now. He’s supposed to be smart right? He was arrogant w/the reporters even though that 70 million dollar loss he passed the buck on was partly his fault…let’s see what he does now.

- He should be able to secure some young healthy major league ready starting pitching now.
- Can he pull off some clever trades? If not then maybe he can consult with some previous Mets GMs

I can imagine, and this is my speculation, that they basically allotted X amount of money for Alderson to spend last season and he used it. The market with the money he spent all together was none too sharp, but I can see why you’re displeased. You especially, because I do remember you throwing out a list once or twice and mentioning guys like Harang, Francis.

I can’t say for sure how willing Harang/Francis/anyone would’ve been to come here, but I see your point. It’ll come down to decision-making.

I begin to wonder if it’s the same way for this offseason. Because if he is allotted X amount of money again, it’ll really be up to his baseball decision making this time around. I think it’ll be more prevalent this time around. He has some money to play with and it seems like 2-year deals and $5 million a year might be too much for us. Which worries me.

He was the guy that made you say “I’ll go to the bathroom next inning after Reyes bats”.

Guys like him are not easily replaceable and don’t grow on trees. Not just the box score numbers but the excitement, the presence, charisma. I’m not trying to make him sound like Mickey Mantle, he’s not, but him and Wright were really the only thing keeping most people watching.

To any other team Reyes is not worth 100 million, but to the Mets he absolutely was. And unless he completely blows out his legs, this will be a day the Mets regret for a long long time.

I can honestly say, being a Mets fan sucks. It just sucks. I knew we would be rebuilding for the next 3-5 years, and I was fine with that, I’m not asking to be the Yankees. All I wanted was to see the team keep their two best and most loved players, Wright and Reyes. Even if it meant overpaying. And we lost him to the Florida Marlins…………

As everybody knows there’s been heated debate here over the last few months about Sandy Alderson’s evaluating skills last offseason. Yes he had a low budget but as was pointed out by another member of this site there were plenty of other ballplayers he could have had within the same financial constraints. Instead he chose Hu, Emaus, Carrasco, Bonser, Bucholz, Tankersley, Young, Capuano, Paulino (Sandy sacrificed defense for his beloved OBP and look what happened), etc.

Did you guys here Sandy point out Capuano in passing during tonight’s presser? BIG DEAL!!!!! Who is he kidding?

I had always maintained that Alderson gave a “token attempt” to compete last off season then appeared like he acted during the entire season like he was waiting for the team to collapse. As if the team had to SHOW HIM they were competitive enough for him to make moves when it should be the other way around. Has anybody disproved that? I think not.

Make no mistake that Sandy is not innocent in this either because that 70 million lost is partly his fault too. Everybody’s so taken with the business economics of this they’re forgetting about the baseball decision-making part of it, and that’s MORE important.

Didn’t Sandy take a swipe at the press tonight referring to something they’ll be another time for like baseball economics 101 or something (i’m too tired to go looking on the web for it)
