I understand what you mean about looking long and hard at a guy. There are lots of guys who show you a spark even though they bury it with mistakes and inexperience. But I see nothing about Thole that encourages me to waste another year on him. He has a slow bat, a less than average arm and he doesn;t block well. Oh, and he has zero power.

Nickeas will get his games in, Collins is good about that and getting everyone playing time…
I just think if we really have money problems then lets go with what we own instead of paying FA since that FA isn’t going to change much.

Pudge is about the only FA I like out there

Not enough $$$. I had also said no ML back-up C- too expensive and that Sandy was going to bring in 1 or 2 4A catchers on minor league deals to challenge Nickeas in ST. Next season is a different case than last season. Last season one knew Johan would miss all or most of the season. Next season, Johan is allegedly healthy enough to pitch. Whether Johan takes the ball every 5 days without a hiccup- shoulder fatigue, some shoulder pain , a dead arm or a trip or two to the 15day DL is another story.
